Introducing New Content Found in Patch 10.2 - Dragonflight Season 4

September 10, 2023 3 minutes

While Blizzard has been very dismissive of any question about the future of Dragonflight beyond Season 3, there might be something in the data indicating an upcoming Season 4. They've done it before with Patch 9.2 when they added both Season 3 and Season 4 Vicious Saddle mounts in a PTR build. Originally neither mount had a source listed, but later on, we found out that the Croaker was the Season 3 reward and the Wolf the Season 4 reward.

This time around, they seem to have done it with the Gladiator mount. The Dragonflight Season 3 Gladiator Mount is the Verdant Gladiator's Slitherdrake, which we datamined earlier this week. However, there is a second Gladiator mount that was added with Patch 10.2 PTR, Violet Gladiator's Drake. The mount doesn't have an item, so likely means the name is not final.

With this, it seems that Blizzard is planning for a Season 4 in Dragonflight and, following the Dragonflight "theme", it will be based around the Blue Dragonflight. Much like Season 3 with Season 2's mount, the Season 4 mount is a recolor of the Season 1 mount, Crimson Gladiator's Drake, instead of using a new Dragonriding mount as the base. If true, this will leave only the Bronze Dragonflight without a Season themed after them. I guess Dragonflight ran out of time for it.

What Does the Addition of Violet Gladiator's Drake Mean?

The addition of Violet Gladiator's Drake in the Patch 10.2 PTR has left players speculating about the possibility of a Season 4 in Dragonflight. While the mount doesn't have an item listed, it doesn't necessarily mean that it won't be included in the upcoming season. The lack of a final name for the mount suggests that Blizzard is still in the process of finalizing the details. This could be an exciting sign for players who are eagerly waiting for new content in Dragonflight.

  • A Recolor of the Season 1 Mount

If the rumors turn out to be true and Season 4 is based around the Blue Dragonflight, it would follow the pattern of previous seasons. Just like Season 3 used a recolor of the Season 2 mount, the Season 4 mount would be a recolor of the Season 1 mount - the Crimson Gladiator's Drake. While some players may have been hoping for a completely new Dragonriding mount, a recolor can still offer a fresh and unique look while maintaining a sense of familiarity.

Conclusion

Although Blizzard has not officially confirmed the existence of a Season 4 in Dragonflight, the addition of the Violet Gladiator's Drake mount in the Patch 10.2 PTR suggests that there may be exciting new content on the horizon. If the rumors are true, players can look forward to a Blue Dragonflight-themed season, with a recolored version of the Crimson Gladiator's Drake as the Season 4 mount. So, keep an eye out for any official announcements and get ready to soar through the skies on your trusty dragon steed. You can find more information at this link if you're interested in obtaining the Gladiator title or other PvP services.
