Welcome to the latest blog post by WowCarry! Today, we'll be diving into the exciting world of World of Warcraft and exploring the character of Moira Thaurissan, Queen of the Dark Iron. Moira is set to play a role in The War Within, the new chapter of Guardians of Dream. In this blog post, we'll delve into her backstory, her involvement in recent events, and what we can expect from her in the future.

Moira Thaurissan, Queen of the Dark Iron

Moira Thaurissan, daughter of Magni Bronzebeard, former king of Ironforge, has had quite the tumultuous past. After being held hostage by the Dark Iron clan, Moira developed an unexpected bond with Emperor Dagran Thaurissan, the leader of the clan. Despite the initial opposition from her own father, Moira found love and respect in Dagran's eyes, leading to their marriage.

Tragedy struck when assassins sent by Magni killed Dagran, leaving Moira devastated. Instead of returning home, Moira took it upon herself to fulfill her late husband's vision of freeing the Dark Iron from their enslavement under the elemental lord Ragnaros. Through her strategic manipulation and alliances, Moira succeeded in liberating her clan from Ragnaros' grasp and even managed to secure help from the Horde to vanquish another formidable foe, the Blackrock clan.

  • Holding Anduin Wrynn Hostage

During the Cataclysm, Moira made a surprising move by appearing in Ironforge with her son, Dagran Thaurissan II, and declaring him the heir to the throne. This act led to her holding the city and its inhabitants hostage, including Prince Anduin Wrynn. However, the hostage situation surprisingly resulted in friendship and respect between Anduin and Moira, although not romantic love.

Anduin managed to escape, and tensions escalated when King Varian Wrynn planned to assassinate Moira in retaliation. However, Anduin convinced his father to spare Moira's life, suggesting that she could be trained to become a better leader for the benefit of the Alliance. Instead of complete control, the Council of Three Hammers was formed to represent the three major Dwarf clans, with Moira representing the Dark Iron.

Council of Three Hammers

Despite being accepted as allies, the Dark Iron clan still faced suspicion from the other dwarf clans. Moira sought to earn their trust and prove her clan's loyalty. When the war broke out during the Mists of Pandaria expansion, Moira was the only leader among the Three Hammers who agreed to help, which eventually led to improved relations and trust between the clans.

Moira also had an opportunity to speak with her petrified father, Magni Bronzebeard, and despite her doubts, she made an effort to bring him back. To everyone's surprise, Magni awakened and revealed a warning about the return of the Burning Legion. He admitted his failure as a father but expressed pride in Moira's growth as a leader.

  • Moira in the Emerald Dream

In the recent chapter of Guardians of the Dream, Moira stands among the heroes answering the call to protect Amirdrassil. Displaying a unique balance between Shadow and Light, Moira's presence suggests she may play a pivotal role in helping Anduin Wrynn find his own equilibrium.

  • Moira and Dagran II in The War Within

In an interview with Anne Stickney, it was revealed that Moira's interest lies with the Earthen race, and we can expect her to delve further into their culture. Additionally, Moira's son, Dagran II, is now a teenager and likely to embark on his own adventures and develop his own ambitions.

During the wedding of Lor'themar Theron and Thalyssra, Dagran II was seen conversing with Arator, the son of Turalyon and Alleria Windrunner. Their friendship suggests that we may get to see more of Arator, especially considering his parents' major roles in The War Within. Dagran II is technically the heir to both the Dark Iron and Bronzebeard clans, leaving us curious about his future decisions.

  • The Dark Iron and Xal'atath

It's worth noting the Dark Iron clan's history with Xal'atath. Modgud, the Sorceress wife of Sorcerer-Thane Thaurissan, possessed the artifact and allegedly fell under its influence, leading to her demise during a battle against the Wildhammer clan. The blade vanished, and Modgud's dying words echoed "You promised..." Thaurissan himself summoned Ragnaros but perished in the attempt, leading to the Dark Iron clan's enslavement until Moira's cunning freed them.

As we look ahead to The War Within, it's intriguing to ponder whether Moira is aware of this dark past involving Xal'atath and if it will lead to a confrontation. Only time will reveal the fate of Moira Thaurissan and her intriguing journey.
