Hello, adventurers! Today we have some exciting news about the latest update in the world of Warcraft. One of the characters being explored in the War Within is none other than Magni Bronzebeard, who hasn't taken center stage since the Battle for Azeroth. In the Ringing Deeps, the second zone of the War Within, an important event occurs involving Magni. If you haven't caught up on the latest events, beware of spoilers! Join us as we dive into the storyline of the War Within and uncover the mysteries surrounding Magni Bronzebeard.

Previously - The War Within Pre-Patch

Before we delve into the latest developments, let's recap what happened in the War Within Pre-Patch Event. During the Radiant Cry event, significant figures in Azeroth received visions from the planet, but Magni Bronzebeard, who became the Speaker of Azeroth, had been unable to communicate with her for a long time. This left him devastated, as Azeroth was the one who transformed him into a being made of diamond, and he longed to feel the warmth of his dwarven kin once more. Magni's disappointment and determination are evident in his words: "Speaker of Azeroth. Bah. She hasn't been speaking to me. After all I gave her, she left me like... this. Unable to feel the warmth of my kin's embrace. So, let's be clear. I'm doing this for all of you. Not for her."

Keen players also noticed that Magni has a different appearance in The War Within. His once radiant glow is now much more subdued, almost resembling an earthen himself.

Magni in the Ringing Deeps

Magni's story continues in the Ringing Deeps zone. Throughout this zone, players have the opportunity to interact with Magni as he expresses his displeasure at Azeroth's long silence. His new voice lines speak volumes about his unresolved emotions: "For Azeroth... pshh," "Well, out with it," "I'm speaking for no one these days," "Look, I'm not dead yet," "I have no counsel for you... no advice," "Speak up," and "Even now, I'm bound to serve Azeroth."

The questline begins to uncover more about the machine responsible for recharging the Earthen, who enter stasis. The machinery had been damaged, the last known access dating back 5000 years. As we progress through the quests, we find out that the Machine Speakers, responsible for maintaining the machine, have mysteriously stopped returning from their shifts in the mines of the Deeps. To help uncover the reason behind this, Magni's grandson, Dagran Thaurissan II, accompanies us as we investigate. Soon enough, we discover that the Skardyn, the cursed descendants of Dark Iron Dwarves who survived the siege of Grim Batol during the War of the Three Hammers, are raiding the mines. These Dwarves once served Queen Mogdud, the wife of Sorcerer-Thane Thaurissan and a previous wielder of the powerful artifact, Xal'atath.

As the questline progresses, we encounter High Speaker Eirich, the current leader of the Machine Speakers. High Speaker Eirich has seemingly found a way to repair the Awakening Machine by striking a deal with none other than Xal'atath. The interaction between Xal'atath and High Speaker Eirich is intriguing and hints at a profound choice High Speaker Eirich must make: "You speak the truth? Your artifact will repair the Awakening Machine?" Xal'atath questions. High Speaker Eirich, torn and hopeful, responds, "It will perfect the machine. Your struggle, your suffering will be at an end. All will awaken... because of you." Xal'atath continues to tempt him, "Is there a price you wouldn't pay? Your people will be restored. Reborn. Improved. And they will laud you as their savior." Eventually, High Speaker Eirich succumbs to the temptation, enthralled by the promise of saving his people.

However, it turns out that the Awakening Machine has been activated but is transforming the earthen in stasis into skardyn, following Xal'atath's sinister agenda. In the final part of the Ringing Deeps questline, players enter the Halls of Awakening, where the Awakening Machine resides, and confront High Speaker Eirich. Here, a dramatic cutscene unfolds, revealing Magni's sacrifice to cleanse the void corruption of the earthen trapped within the awakening chamber.

The aftermath of this sacrifice leaves Magni as a lifeless statue. Moments later, the shell breaks, and he emerges restored as flesh and bone. Reunited with his daughter and grandson, Magni celebrates the first earthen to awaken from the machine. As the cutscene ends, players are suddenly teleported back to the main city of the Ringing Deeps, Gundargaz. Magni appears with his original model, restored to his former glory as a being of flesh. Welcome back, Magni!

Through datamining, we have discovered a new Dwarf model in this update. While its origin remains unknown, it bears a striking resemblance to Magni. It is possible that this model serves as a base for Magni's new appearance after being transformed from stone.

Conclusion

The War Within takes players on a thrilling adventure deep into the Ringing Deeps as we witness Magni Bronzebeard's journey. The revelation of the Awakening Machine and its connection to Xal'atath adds another layer of intrigue, culminating in Magni's sacrifice and subsequent rebirth.
