Morchie Ability Cooldowns on Patch 10.2 PTR - Dawn of the Infinites Mythic+ Adjustments

October 27, 2023 2 minutes

Greetings, fellow gamers! It's WowCarry here with some exciting news from the Patch 10.2 PTR. We have some major changes to discuss regarding Morchie's timers, making the encounter a whole lot easier for all of us. Not only that, but there have been some nerfs to her trap abilities, as well as adjustments to the cooldowns of her formidable attacks. So, let's dive right in and explore all the details of these changes!

Extended Cooldowns on Morchie's Timers

On the Patch 10.2 PTR, Morchie's timers have received a significant increase in cooldowns. This modification has been implemented to provide players with a more manageable and less overwhelming encounter. The previous cool down times have been extended, resulting in a less frequent onslaught of attacks from Morchie herself.

  • Changes to Familiar Faces

One of the most notable changes is the cooldown increase for the ability called Familiar Faces. Previously, this ability had a cooldown of approximately 20 seconds. However, in the new update, the cooldown has been extended to a staggering 50 seconds. This change considerably reduces the frequency of Familiar Faces, allowing for more strategic planning and less frantic movement during the boss fight.

  • Adjustments to Sand Blast

Another significant modification is the decrease in cooldown time for the lethal ability known as Sand Blast. Previously, players had to endure an onslaught of Sand Blast attacks every 22 seconds. However, with the latest update, the cooldown has been reduced to a mere 12 seconds. Now, this might seem like a disadvantage, as tanks will be subjected to more frequent attacks. But fear not, because the overall balance of the encounter has been fine-tuned to make it a worthwhile tradeoff.

With the decreased frequency of Familiar Faces and the increased cooldown time of Sand Blast, the boss fight feels much more reasonable and less chaotic. Players have more time to plan their moves and strategies. However, it's worth mentioning that there is still an interesting paradox in dealing with the boss's adds. Using the Traps mechanic allows for significant extra damage, but taking a different approach and not engaging with the traps actually makes the encounter easier and lessens the damage taken. Coordinated teams on this encounter might opt to use mass AoE CC abilities like Mass Entanglement, instead of relying on the traps.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the changes implemented in Patch 10.2 PTR for the Morchie encounter bring a breath of fresh air to the gameplay. The extended cooldowns on timers, along with the nerfs on certain abilities, offer a more manageable and strategic approach to the encounter. Whether you choose to utilize the Traps mechanic or opt for alternative strategies, it's up to your team's coordination and playstyle.

As always, remember to adapt your tactics and communicate effectively with your team to maximize your chances of success. Good luck out there, and may the RNG gods be on your side!
