Netherwing Takes Flight in Thaldraszus: Patch 10.2 Update

October 03, 2023 3 minutes

Upon completing their associated story quest in Patch 10.2, a fascinating development has taken place in the world of Azeroth. It seems that the Netherwing dragons of Outland, an unorthodox brood of ethereal reptiles, are making their way to Azeroth and the Dragon Isles. Screenshotscourtesy of MrGM have surfaced, revealing the Nether Drakes perched alongside their distant kin in Thaldraszus.

In the colorful lore of World of Warcraft, the Nether Drakes were originally spawned by Deathwing, the infamous dragon who wreaked havoc during the second great war. During that time, Deathwing brought the dragons to Draenor, inadvertently exposing their eggs to the chaotic energy of the Twisting Nether. When Draenor was torn asunder and transformed into Outland, the eggs were forever changed, infusing the dragons with an ethereal essence and resulting in a unique variety of scale colors. However, this transformation came at a cost - the Nether Drakes now have considerably shorter lifespans compared to their kin. The design of these creatures is truly mesmerizing, with their ethereal appearance and captivating colors.

The Netherwing Faction

During the events of The Burning Crusade expansion, players had the opportunity to prove themselves as friends to the Netherwing faction. However, until now, the Nether Drakes have mostly remained on Outland, while the storyline of the game has continued to progress. But all of this is about to change with the release of Patch 10.2.

A Surprising Alliance

In Patch 10.2, it has been revealed that Vyranoth and Wrathion will be joining forces to recruit new allies in preparation for Fyrakk's impending assault on Amirdrassil. These two unlikely leaders have chosen to seek the aid of both the Netherwing dragons of Outland and the Thorignir Storm Dragons from Stormheim. This alliance may seem unexpected, but both Vyranoth and Wrathion understand what it's like to be outcasts in their own unique ways.

Wrathion, one of the few uncorrupted offspring of Deathwing, has always been an outsider among the dragons. His father's dark influence and catastrophic actions have tainted the dragonflight, but Wrathion remains untainted and seeks to use his unique perspective to protect Azeroth from impending threats.

Vyranoth, on the other hand, is a Netherwing dragon who made the difficult decision to betray her Primal Incarnate brothers for the greater good of the Dragon Isles. This choice has made her an outcast among her own kind, but she sees the opportunity to align herself with like-minded individuals who understand the struggle of being different.

  • The Dragon Isles: A New Home for the Netherwing

The Dragon Isles, long shrouded in mystery, is a suitable sanctuary for the Netherwing dragons to call home. Secluded from the rest of Azeroth, these legendary isles hold the promise of peace and acceptance for creatures who have been ostracized due to their unique origins. This new expansion of their territory signifies a significant turning point in the dragon's journey, bridging the gap between Outland and Azeroth as they find solace in the Dragon Isles alongside their kin in Thaldraszus.

As we eagerly await the release of Patch 10.2, the prospect of witnessing the alliance between the Netherwing and the Thorignir Storm Dragons is truly thrilling. It's a testament to the power of friendship and understanding, as unlikely allies come together to face a common enemy. Stay tuned for more updates on the unfolding story of these remarkable dragons and their journey in the World of Warcraft to prepare for the upcoming events of Guardians of the Dream.
