Welcome to the world of Plunderstorm! In the 10.2.6 update, we have uncovered some interesting information about the game. It seems that in previous iterations, Plunderstorm had a different lore and gameplay mechanics. Let's dive into the datamined spells and features that were discovered!

Tournament

In one of the older versions of Plunderstorm, it appears that Plunderstorm was portrayed as a tournament. Several spells reference this tournament aspect:

  • Bandages, Bandages, Bandages: Players start with a random medical item when the tournament begins.
  • Receive personal quest objectives at the start of the tournament that grant bonus experience.
  • Players will be kicked from the tournament if they remain inactive for too long.
  • Quickly construct a prototype for a new invention, which helps the player and their allies in the tournament.

Old Spells

In Patch 10.2.6, several "new" class spells were discovered, following the same format as current Plunderstorm spells. It seems that Blizzard may have experimented with class spells before transitioning to the general abilities system. Here are a few examples:

  • Utility Spells

Utility spells were found for every class, but here are a few noteworthy ones:

Spell Description
Anti-Magic Zone Creates an area where magic damage is reduced.
Darkness Provides a chance to avoid incoming damage.
Alter Time Allows the player to go back in time and reset their position and health.

  • Other Offensive Spells

In addition to utility spells, there were offensive spells that functioned differently from the current abilities in Plunderstorm. Some examples include:

  • Arcane Storm: Deals damage based on spell power with a certain range and cooldown.
  • Arcanosphere: Deals spell power-based damage over a channeled duration.
  • Blessed Hammer, Dark Star, Fast Time, Frozen Orb, Hellfire, Holy Dragon Punch: Various class-inspired offensive spells.

  • Consumables

A few consumables were also discovered in the data:

  • Goblin Landmine: A powerful explosive item.
  • Kaja'Cola Carrier Unit: Various Kaja'Cola drinks with different effects such as damage boost, defense boost, and sprint.

  • Passive Abilities

There seemed to be a time when passive abilities or talents existed in Plunderstorm. Some examples include Counterfast, Countermend, Crashing Storm, Critical Focus, Emergency Failsafe, Face Your Foes, Master Medic, and Opulent Onslaught.

  • Equipable Abilities

In one iteration of Plunderstorm, abilities were tied to specific gear. Here are a few examples:

  • Hunting Bow (Main Hand)
  • Illidari Warglaive (Main Hand)
  • Horn of the Frostwyrm (Offhand)

Gameplay Mechanics

  • Drop Changes

In the older version of Plunderstorm, players would drop from a shared location with a glider. The following spell was discovered:

  • Eject: Allows players to eject from the airship or gyrochoppa and activate their glider.

  • Air Drops

It seems that air drops were planned to be part of the game, offering powerful rewards for players who managed to claim them. The spell discovered was:

  • Air Drop: Signals the arrival of an air drop, which contains valuable items.

  • Vending Machines

In the datamined information, there were also references to vending machines:

  • Vend-O-Matic: A machine that dispenses various items or services.
  • Vend-O-Matic Mk. VI: An upgraded version of the vending machine.

It's fascinating to see the evolution of Plunderstorm through these datamined spells and features. While they may not have made it to the final version of the game, they provide insight into the development process. Stay tuned for more updates and discoveries in the world of Plunderstorm!
