Patch 10.2 PTR Class and Preservation Evoker Tier Set Adjustments

October 19, 2023 2 minutes

Greetings, fellow adventurers!

Today, we have some exciting news for all the Dragonflight enthusiasts out there. The highly anticipated Season 3 update has just received a hotfix on the PTR (Public Test Realm). One of the notable changes is the adjustment made to the Preservation Evoker Tier set. Let's dive in and explore the details of this update.

Living Flame and the Echo Effect

A significant modification has been implemented regarding the interaction between Living Flame and the Echo effect. Previously, Living Flame had a chance to apply Echo at 70% effectiveness on allies healed or a nearby ally who did not already have Echo. However, with the recent hotfix, this effectiveness has been reduced to 50%.

In addition to the reduction in effectiveness, the proc chance for this ability has also been increased from 20% to 33%. This change aims to enhance the reliability of the tier set's procs, making it a much smoother and enjoyable experience for players. We spoke with Voulk, our expert Preservation Evoker class writer, to get some insight into these changes.

Expert Analysis: Voulk's Perspective

According to Voulk, this alteration represents a minor net buff to a tier set that was previously considered mathematically weak. While it may not drastically alter the power level of the Preservation Evoker, it does improve the consistency of its procs. This change should result in a more pleasant gameplay experience for those who utilize this tier set.

Furthermore, Voulk reminds us that the "50% echo" benefit still applies Time Lord if you have chosen to talent into it. This means that players who have invested in the Time Lord talent will still see the 50% effectiveness boost, further enhancing the impact of their abilities.

However, it's worth noting that this hotfix has inadvertently introduced a bug. Currently, the free Echo granted by Living Flame can be immediately consumed by the Living Flame itself, leading to an additional proc of Echo. Although this unintended consequence is likely to be addressed and rectified before the official release, it does contribute to an increased number of Essence Bursts players experience throughout a fight.

Conclusion

With the recent hotfix to the Preservation Evoker Tier in Season 3 of Dragonflight, players can expect a series of changes that aim to improve the overall experience of utilizing this tier set. The adjustments to Living Flame and the Echo effect result in a more reliable and consistent proc chance, offering a smoother gameplay flow. However, players should be aware of the bug related to Living Flame consuming the free Echo, as it inadvertently leads to additional Essense Bursts. We anticipate this issue to be resolved prior to the live release.

Thank you for joining us today. Stay tuned for more updates and information regarding Dragonflight Season 3.
