Playthrough of Fyr'alath the Dreamrender Questline

November 27, 2023 5 minutes

With Echo's World First kill of Fyrakk happening just earlier today, the World First drop of the legendary axe Fyr'alath the Dreamrender has also happened! We're currently cataloguing the questline as Echo's recipient, Meeres, is completing it on stream. Note: This post is currently ONGOING! You can watch Meeres complete the questline in real time on his Twitch channel.

Starting the Fyr'alath Questline

The questline begins with the acquisition of Fyr'alath the Dreamrender, the legendary axe, which dropped for the first time during Echo's World First kill of Mythic Fyrakk. This powerful weapon, when equipped, envelops the user in Shadowflame, eventually overpowering them. Upon equipping the axe and succumbing to its power, players receive a new quest, "The Shadowflame Axe," which instructs them to seek out an expert in Shadowflame at the Azerothian Archives.

The Azerothian Archives

The location of the Azerothian Archives, which was previously teased in the Patch 10.2.5 preview, is revealed to be the floating isles just north of Alge'thar Academy in Thaldraszsus. This mystical library holds vast knowledge and secrets, making it the ideal place to find someone knowledgeable about Shadowflame. Here, players encounter Eadweard Dalyngrigge, the Lead Archivist and supposed expert on Shadowflame.

  • Meeting Eadweard Dalyngrigge

In the quest "Handling It," Eadweard instructs players on how to modify Fyr'alath's haft to withstand the power of its head. To accomplish this, three components are required:

  1. A fireproof hide that can handle intense heat (Handling It: Symbiotic Glowspore Grip)
  2. An enchanted vellum that can contain the weapon's volatile magic (Handling It: Concentrated Sophic Vellum)
  3. Runes to help the first two materials properly bind to the weapon (Handling It: Rune of Shadowbinding)

Leatherworking - Symbiotic Glowspore Grip

The Leatherworking portion of the questline leads players to Erden, a centaur located just east of Mountainview Post in the Ohn'ahran Plains. Erden provides the quest "Handling It: Shadowed Dreamleaf," which requires players to collect 200 Shadowed Dreamleaf from completing objectives in Superbloom events in the Emerald Dream.

During a Superbloom event, the holder of Fyr'alath will receive a Tattered Dreamleaf, which can be used on a party member to give them the quest "Tattered Dreamleaf." This quest requires the party member to complete events in the Superbloom. Upon successfully completing the quest, the party member receives a Restored Dreamleaf, which can be used on the holder of Fyr'alath to increase the rate at which they receive Shadowed Dreamleaves.

Once players have collected enough Shadowed Dreamleaf, they can complete the quest and receive the Prototype Dreamleaf Grip. This item is used to craft Erden's Dreamleaf Grip in a later step of the questline.

Enchanting - Concentrated Sophic Vellum

In the Enchanting portion of the questline, players must seek out Shalasar Glimmerdusk, a nightborne located by the Nelthazan Ruins in the Ohn'ahran Plains. Shalasar provides the quest "Handling It: Radiant Fleck of Ash," which requires players to collect 20 Radiant Flecks of Ash from powerful pieces of gear found in the Emerald Dream.

During Meeres's Twitch stream, it was discovered that players could obtain 1 Radiant Fleck of Ash per piece of loot obtained within the Emerald Dream. Alternatively, players could purchase the Fallen Protector Handguards from Moon Priestess Lasara at Renown 7 with the Dream Wardens. This allowed players to easily acquire 20 pieces of loot at a cost of 300 Dragon Isles Supplies each, totaling 6000 Dragon Isles Supplies.

Upon collecting enough Radiant Flecks of Ash, players complete the quest and receive the Prototype Order Vellum. This item is used to craft Shalasar's Sophic Vellum in a later step of the questline.

Inscription - Rune of Shadowbinding

The Inscription portion of the questline involves seeking out Lydiara Whisperfeather by the Azure Archives in the Azure Span. Lydiara requests players to collect 50 Taut Tethercoil in the quest "Handling It: Taut Tethercoil." These drop from powerful enemies, particularly Rare mobs, in the Emerald Dream.

During Meeres's Twitch stream, it was observed that killing both Rare and Rare-Elite mobs in the Emerald Dream dropped 1-3 Radiant Flecks of Ash. This made it easier for players to obtain the necessary components. Upon collecting enough Taut Tethercoil, players complete the quest and receive the Prototype Binding Rune. This item is used to craft Lydiara's Binding Rune in a later step of the questline.

Crafting the Modified Fyr'alath

Once players have acquired all the necessary components, they can proceed to the final step of the questline, which involves using the crafted items to modify Fyr'alath. The Prototype Dreamleaf Grip, Shalasar's Sophic Vellum, and Lydiara's Binding Rune, along with additional materials, are used to forge the Modified Fyr'alath.

Item Quantity
Zaralek Glowspores 400
Obsidian Cobraskin 3
Prototype Dreamleaf Grip 1
Dreaming Essence 5
Mireslush Hide 50

Conclusion

Completing the Fyr'alath questline is no easy feat, requiring players to embark on a journey to gather rare and powerful materials across the Emerald Dream. However, the reward is a mighty weapon that has the potential to reshape battles and leave a mark on Azeroth's history. Stay tuned for more updates as Meeres continues his progress and challenges across the questline!
