Colossus Arms Warrior Review

The Colossus Warriors are known for their immense physical strength and resilience. These battle-hardened veterans have fought in countless conflicts and are experts at delivering powerful blows and enduring enemy attacks. The Colossus tree introduces a new offensive cooldown called Demolish, which interrupts the rotation and restricts movement but offers significant damage potential.

One of the main features of the Colossus tree is the Demolish ability. It is a 2-second channel ability that immobilizes the Warrior, preventing them from using other abilities or moving during its duration. This unique mechanic adds a tactical aspect to the gameplay, requiring players to decide when and where to unleash Demolish for optimal effectiveness.

While some players appreciate the unique gameplay offered by Demolish, there have been concerns about the immobility it imposes on the Warrior. Melee classes heavily rely on mobility to avoid deadly mechanics and react quickly to threats. However, the developers intend for Demolish to be a different experience from other melee channels, offering a distinct flavor to the Colossus specialization.

Breaking Down the Biggest Hits

Colossus aims to deliver some of the most impactful melee hits in the game. Each hit of Demolish deals significant damage, making it crucial to use the ability as soon as it becomes available. While these colossal hits may not contribute a massive portion of overall damage, they add a satisfying aspect to the gameplay and create big numbers that compensate for lost Global Cooldowns.

The specialization also focuses on critical strike damage, with talents like Martial Expert and True Might increasing critical strike damage bonuses for Arms Warriors. This synergy enhances the theme of big hits and reinforces the gameplay fantasy of the Colossus and Demolish abilities.

Ponderously Passive

The Colossus tree features a mainly passive playstyle, with the exception of casting Demolish periodically. The tree emphasizes talents that reinforce existing Arms Warrior abilities like Mortal Strike and Overpower. Some bonuses, such as Mountain of Muscle and Scars, increase damage dealt and reduce damage taken, while others like Tide of Battle and Practiced Strikes enhance specific abilities.

There is also a choice between different aspects of multitarget gameplay, represented by the nodes Cleave and Arterial Bleed. The design aims to offer burst multitarget potential with One Against Many and sustained multitarget damage with Arterial Bleed.

A Colossal Uncertainty

The Colossus specialization adds an interesting dynamic to Arms Warriors, offering a different playstyle that focuses on massive hits but requires thoughtful decision-making due to the immobility of Demolish. While it may not radically transform Arms gameplay, it introduces a unique flavor and increases skill expression.

However, there are still unknowns regarding the overall changes to the Warrior class tree in The War Within expansion. Blizzard has only mentioned Shockwave and Storm Bolt so far, but other modifications may occur, potentially altering the way the class is played.

For players questioning the theme of the Colossus tree, it is worth noting that it does not directly involve Colossus Smash, but its name is likely inspired by the X-Men character Colossus. The WoW version aims to evoke the same tankiness and strength.

Overall, the Colossus Warrior Hero Talents offer an intriguing specialization for Arms Warriors, allowing them to unleash devastating blows with Demolish while navigating the challenges brought about by immobility. It will be exciting to see how players adapt to and master this new gameplay style in The War Within expansion.
