Revitalization Accelerator Offered Throughout the Initial Week of Dragonflight Season 3 - Charges Biweekly

September 07, 2023 2 minutes

In an exclusive interview with Forbes, Senior Game Designer Patrick Scarborough shared some exciting news for World of Warcraft players eagerly awaiting Season 3. Scarborough revealed that the highly anticipated Revival Catalyst will now be available in the very first week of the season. However, there is a catch - players will only gain a charge every two weeks instead of the previous weekly schedule.

When asked about the speed at which the Catalyst opens to turn other items into tier armor set pieces, Scarborough expressed his passionate feelings towards this game feature. He explained that prior to the release of version 10.1, they had initially decided to delay the unlocking of the Catalyst. However, in hindsight, this decision didn't align with the immediate sense of freedom offered by the upgrade system. These two systems seemed to conflict with each other, which resulted in a less cohesive gameplay experience.

Scarborough continued, "We wanted players to feel the thrill and anticipation of unlocking their tier pieces, but with everyone rapidly increasing their item levels, the impact of this progression system was diminished." Realizing this, the development team made some adjustments to address the issue.

The New System

For Season 3, Blizzard is introducing a revamped system that brings forward the unlocking of the Catalyst to the first week. This means players will be able to access it earlier than before. However, the earning rate of charges will be adjusted to every two weeks instead of every week. Additionally, there will be other tweaks and number adjustments to ensure a more balanced and meaningful progression experience.

What does this mean for non-raiders? Scarborough shared, "This change will significantly reduce the disadvantage non-raiders have faced in previous seasons. Although you will still need to wait two weeks for your next piece, the good news is that you will start receiving tier armor set pieces from the very beginning of the season." This means that non-raiding players can now begin collecting their pieces earlier, allowing them to participate in the tier system with greater ease and fairness.

Conclusion

The decision to make the Revival Catalyst available in the first week of Season 3, albeit with a slower charge earning rate, aims to strike a better balance between the upgrade system and the excitement of unlocking tier armor set pieces. This change will be particularly beneficial for non-raiders, who will now have a fairer chance to gather their desired set items.

With these adjustments in place, Season 3 of World of Warcraft promises a more accessible and enjoyable experience for all players. So gear up, prepare for battle, and embrace the thrill of the new season as you work towards achieving the ultimate power! Need help with completing raid content to get those sweet sets?
