You join Genn Greymane on a flight to Gilneas, where he discusses the Scarlet Crusade. As the city has become their stronghold, it's time for the Alliance to reclaim it. Mia Greymane, Genn's daughter, expresses her gratitude for your assistance. Genn Greymane mentions his limited knowledge of the Scarlet Crusade, as they gained power after Gilneas isolated itself from the rest of humanity.

The Horde's Role

Horde characters, on the other hand, begin the questline with "Clandestine Movements." They are directed to meet Calia Menethil and Lilian Voss at Pyrewood Village in Silverpine Forest. These unlikely allies plan to retake Gilneas from the Scarlet Crusade, a common enemy. Calia Menethil highlights the tension between King Greymane and the Forsaken. Tes Greymane, Genn's sister, raises concerns about the Scarlet Crusade's activities. Lilian Voss adds that while they initially fought against the Scourge, fanaticism blinded them, causing hatred towards anyone who did not join their cause.

With the path to the Scarlet Crusade's stronghold opened, we face their leader, Inquisitor Fairbell, in the Gilnean chapel. However, halfway through the battle, she transforms into a massive Light elemental. Ultimately, we successfully defeat Inquisitor Fairbell, allowing Princess Tess Greymane to declare victory. The Alliance, aided by the Forsaken, has driven out the Scarlet Crusade.

Gilneas Restored

This conquest marks the moment when Gilneas is finally returned to the Greymane family. In a cutscene titled "Beginning a New Dawn," Genn Greymane apologizes to Tess for the years of neglect and appoints her as the new leader of Gilneas. Genn then requests some time alone, and Tess asks us to check on him in the quest "What We Left Behind." We find Genn visiting Liam Greymane's tomb, where he reflects on the lessons he has learned and contemplates the consequences of building the wall that isolated Gilneas. He expresses regret for not being able to see how things would have unfolded if he had made different choices.
