Scrappy Worldsnail - Mounting Adventures: Day 8

December 30, 2023 3 minutes

Welcome to day eight of our special Twelve Days of Mounts series, 2023 edition! With the holiday season in full swing, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some of the incredible mounts that were added in the latest expansion, Dragonflight. In today's post, we'll be focusing on one mount in particular - the Slumbering Worldsnail Shell.

About the Slumbering Worldsnail Shell

The Slumbering Worldsnail Shell is a unique and farmable mount that can be found in the Obsidian Citadel. However, in order to obtain this mount, you must first become a Worldbreaker. This requires completing a series of quests and obtaining a Worldbreaker Membership.

  • Prerequisites for Becoming a Worldbreaker

In order to begin your journey towards becoming a Worldbreaker, you must first complete the Shadow of His Wings side-quest in The Waking Shores. This questline includes the following quests:

  • A Cultist's Misgivings
  • Punching Up
  • Under Lock and Key
  • The Shadow of His Wings

Once you have completed these quests, you will be ready to take on the challenge of becoming a Worldbreaker.

  • Becoming a Worldbreaker

To become a Worldbreaker, you must obtain a Worldbreaker Membership. The first time you become a Worldbreaker, you will need to turn in a Restored Obsidian Key to Igys the Believer in order to obtain a Twilight Cache. This cache has a chance to contain a Worldbreaker Membership, with a roughly 30% drop rate based on testing. It's important to note that the Worldbreaker Membership is a unique item, so you cannot obtain another one if you already have one in your possession.

After obtaining the Worldbreaker Membership, you will receive a temporary title that lasts for 2 days. It's crucial to avoid dying during this time, as death will cause you to lose both your title and your ability to collect Magmotes from mobs. To regain your title and farming abilities, you will need to use another Worldbreaker Membership.

If you wish to extend your Worldbreaker status beyond the initial 2 days, you can purchase an additional Worldbreaker Membership from Dealer Vexil for 20 Magmotes.

  • Farming Magmotes

With your Worldbreaker status secured, the next step is to farm Magmotes. There are currently three known methods for obtaining Magmotes:

  1. Turning in Restored Obsidian Keys to Igys the Believer awards 3-6 Magmotes per key.
  2. Completing the Same as the Old Boss weekly quest from Doventhal the Chosen, which awards 25 Magmotes.
  3. Killing mobs around Obsidian Citadel while being a Worldbreaker and having met the prerequisites. Enemies may drop 0-3 Magmotes each.

Please note that defeating Morchok, the rare summoned by turning in 10 keys to Igys the Believer, does not currently reward any Magmotes.

Obtaining the Slumbering Worldsnail Shell

Once you have collected 1000 Magmotes, you can make your way back to the Worldbreakers cave (entrance located at /way The Waking Shores 35, 47) and purchase the Slumbering Worldsnail Shell from Dealer Vexil. This beautiful mount will be all yours to ride and show off to your friends!

When the Slumbering Worldsnail Shell was first discovered, the item that teaches the mount couldn't be used. Instead, it had the typical "Right click to learn this mount" description text. This added an extra level of excitement and intrigue for players eager to acquire this unique mount.
