Clue 3: Thinking Cap
Here's how to complete Day 2 (Clue 3), the Thinking Cap as part of the Secrets of Azeroth event.
Talk to Bobby Carlisle to receive Thinking Cap Notes. You will need 3 items to create the Thinking Cap: Thought Calculating Apparatus, Downy Helmet Liner, and Crystal Ocular Lenses.
In order to get Thought Calculating Apparatus, you need to talk to Clinkyclick Shatterboom in Valdrakken (42.2 48.8) with 10 Thunderspine Nest.
Talk to Erugos in the Roasted Ram Inn in Valdrakken (46.5 46.3) to receive Thunderspine Nest Shopping List.
You can either follow the steps below to obtain the Thunderspine Nest for free, or purchase them from the Auction House to skip this step.
Here's how to obtain all items required:
- Acquire 5 Thunderspine Tenders from Agurahl the Butcher in Timberstep Outpost, Ohn'ahran Plains (85.1 23.4)
- Acquire 5 Apexis Asiago from Gorgonzormu in Valdrakken (29.2 65.2)
- Acquire 5 Latticed Stinkhorn from Sniktakin Loamm (54.1 56.6)
In order to acquire Downy Helmet Liner, you need to talk to Gryffin (Valdrakken 42.5 49.3) with a Fresh Tyranha.
Loot Fresh Tyranha from Hungering Tyranha (Valdrakken 45.7 93.1) located by the river flowing down from Valdrakken.
In order to acquire Crystal Ocular Lenses, you need to talk to Shakey Flatlap (Valdrakken 38.9 61.9).
He will ask you to pay his tab at the Dragon's Hoard, the secret inn in Valdrakken. You can either pay 346g in the secret inn in Valdrakken or directly pay Shakey 1,000g to obtain the item.
Get the quest Unfinished Thinking Cap by clicking Thought Calculating Apparatus.
Turn in the quest to Fangli Hoot in the room to the left of the Barber Shop in Valdrakken (26.7, 54.2) to earn the toy Tricked-Out Thinking Cap.
Once you've obtained the Tricked-Out Thinking Cap, you can equip it as a toy. Using it will give you the buff Tricked-Out Thinking Cap, which will give you a set of coordinates. Moving will change these coordinates, and using the toy again will center the coordinates at (0,0) again which can be seen on your buff bar. Use this to complete the next quest, The Tricked-Out Thinking Cap from Fangli Hoot, which will send you on a scavenging hunt of arrows scattered across Valdrakken.
The starting arrow is directly next to Fangli Hoot on the Wall (26.6 53.9). Below is a set of coordinates and descriptions for the next arrows. Finding all 8 arrows and turning in the quest will complete the "Thinking Cap" step of the achievement Whodunnit?.
