Support Your Local Craftsmen - Achieve the Gold Sink in Love is in the Air

Love is in the Air is returning for the 2024 holiday, and with it comes new updates. Between new pets, cosmetics, mounts, and more, there's plenty for even holiday veterans to sink their teeth into this year - including new achievements.

One new achievement, however, is a bit different than anything we've seen before: Support Your Local Artisans. This achievement involves donating to the Artisan's Consortium in support of the Gala of Gifts, a new mechanic to this year's Love is in the Air.

Players interested in earning this achievement will need to donate gold to representatives of the Artisan's Consortium. For Alliance players, you can find Galvus Ironhammer at (/way 32 49.7) just outside Stormwind. Horde players can visit Torgando Featherhoof at (/way 42.2 18.1) outside Orgrimmar.

When making a donation, players can choose between donating 100 gold, 500 gold, or 1000 gold at once, but can only donate once per day. In order to earn the achievement, players must choose the donation option over the course of seven days. Doing so will grant them the Support Your Local Artisans achievement, along with the 10 achievement points that come with it.

Usually, players who prefer to slowly farm gold over several days or weeks have time to do so. However, due to this achievement being tied to the Love is in the Air holiday event, players have a much more limited timeframe to earn Support Your Local Artisans. In 2024, Love is in the Air is active from February 5th to February 19th. This means that players must have made their donations within that short window before they lose their opportunity for another year.

Blizzard is known for introducing gold sinks to World of Warcraft, with the most recent addition being a new Gold Sink Vendor in the Black Market Auction House. However, this may be the first time a gold sink has been introduced that provides nothing tangible in return.

While players have become accustomed to earning Feats of Strength or even normal achievements in the course of spending a significant amount of gold (Conspicuous Consumption, anyone?), they have always received something in return for parting with their hard-earned coins. This could be a pet, a mount, or even a title. However, with Support Your Local Artisans, the only reward for returning gold to the Twisting Nether this time is 10 achievement points.
