Chapter 1 - Breaking Point

Chapter 1 of the Isle of Dorn starts after a thrilling Dalaran scenario. Suddenly, we find ourselves violently transported to the Isle of Dorn, where Dalaran has been completely destroyed by an unknown force. Our first mission is to help survivors and eliminate the Nerubians, who are responsible for the attack. Along the way, we encounter familiar faces like Ritssyn Flamescowl, Aethas Sunreaver, Meryl Felstorm, and many others.

After locating most of the survivors, we come face to face with Magni, who is engaged in a fierce battle with the nerubian leader, Queensguard Zirix. As we assist Magni in defeating the massive nerubian, a thrilling cutscene plays out, showcasing the intensity of the battle. After the dust settles, we are approached by Baelgrim and the stormriders, who ask us to join them and follow them to their capital, Dornogal.

  • The Origin of the Nerubians

As we aid the stormriders in clearing the Coreway, the passage connecting Dornogal to the underground, we gather with our allies, Jaina, Thrall, Anduin, and Alleria, to discuss the origin of the nerubians and their connection to Xal'atath, the mysterious entity responsible for the destruction of Dalaran. Through a brief dialogue, we learn that the nerubians were not solely focused on Dalaran but were another part of Xal'atath's grand scheme.

Anduin voices his concern that they might have inadvertently brought the nerubians to the island, but Jaina assures him that the attack was not their doing. It becomes clear that the nerubians are ancient enemies of the earthen and that their presence on the island poses a significant threat to everyone. At this point, a cutscene plays, hinting at the loss of more than just Dalaran...

Chapter 2 - Earthen Fissures

In Chapter 2, we meet up with Baelgrim, the Stormward, who informs us that the Coreway is impassable, effectively cutting off access to the Ringing Deeps. He expresses his remorse for failing to protect his people and asks for our help in clearing the debris and aiding any earthen caught in the destruction. During this time, we discover a memory gem, which provides valuable information about the Earthen and their current plight.

  • The Decline of the Earthen

We learn from Brinthe, a Machine Speaker, that the Earthen keep memory gems detailing their lives, which are then deposited in an archive. However, the archive has been inaccessible for thousands of years, and without a way to recharge, the Earthen are in a state of decline. They are slowly losing their memories, and it is predicted that they will cease to function within the next ten centuries.

To combat this, Merrix, the Councilward, proposes a plan to reunite the Council of Dornogal and seeks the assistance of Adelgonn, the Stoneward, who had separated from Dornogal with her group of Unbound Earthen. Moira suggests a diplomatic approach, similar to the one she had to take in the past, and agrees to accompany Baelgrim to find Adelgonn.

  • The Rediscovery of Arathi

Upon reaching Freywold Village, we witness a tense meeting between Baelgrim, who hadn't seen Adelgonn in thousands of years, and Adelgonn, the former Stoneward. After defusing the tension, we are sent on a mission to the Earthcrawl Mines to free captured earthen and confront the nerubians. This quest serves as our introduction to Delves, an exciting new feature in The War Within.

After freeing the earthen and defeating the nerubian leader, we return to Adelgonn, who expresses her gratitude and asks for further assistance in healing the poisoned earthen and acquiring resources to rebuild the Coreway. Through a series of quests, we manage to heal the earthen and gather the necessary materials, leading to another dramatic cutscene that showcases the sacrifice made by Baelgrim to defend his people.

Chapter 3 - The First Blow

In Chapter 3, our main objective is to follow Baelgrim's directive as the Stormward and organize the Unbound Earthen to begin repairs on the Coreway. However, realizing the vulnerability of the workers, we are tasked with rallying Earthen Stormriders and bolstering the defenses of Dornogal to protect them from potential nerubian attacks.

With the help of Alleria, who has been tracking the nerubians, we devise a plan to set a trap using the highly flammable cinderbrew produced at a nearby meadery. Wenbrandt, the dwarf responsible for the cinderbrew, is initially hesitant but agrees to participate when promised that his meadery will be repaired after the mission is completed.

As we prepare for the nerubian assault, we evacuate the meadery, connect fuses to the barrels of cinderbrew, and fortify the defenses. However, despite our best efforts, the nerubians chew through the fuses, depriving us of the opportunity to blow up the meadery. We engage the nerubians in battle, leading to a climactic cutscene where Baelgrim makes the ultimate sacrifice, destroying the meadery and eliminating Queensguard Zirix.

Returning to Dornogal, we deliver the news of Baelgrim's sacrifice to Councilward Merrix. With access to the repaired Coreway, we are now able to proceed to the Ringing Deeps, marking the end of the Isle of Dorn questline. But the adventure is far from over!
