The War Within: Managing Your Alt Armies with the Warband

The War Within expansion brings a host of exciting features, and one of the biggest additions is the introduction of the Warband. This new feature allows players to efficiently manage their alt armies, making it easier than ever to transfer currencies between characters without the hassle of purchasing and mailing items.

How Does It Work?

When you open your Currency tab, you'll notice that some currencies now have a specific icon indicating that they are transferrable. Simply click on this icon to select another character from your account to transfer the currency to.

In addition, transferrable currencies have a new line of text indicating their transferability status.

  • Transferrable Currencies:

As of the current Alpha build, the following currencies can be transferred between characters. It's important to note that some currencies have a conversion rate, meaning that there is a cost associated with transferring them:

No Currency Confusion

In order to avoid potential confusion, the decision was made to handle currency differently. Instead of making it Warband-wide, which could lead to spending the wrong currency on the wrong character, players can now easily transfer shareable currencies between characters within the UI itself.

Currencies primarily intended for purchasing Warband-wide items, such as cosmetics, pets, and mounts, will generally be completely free to transfer within your Warband.

However, there may be cases where a currency is earned on a specific character but players are allowed to transfer excess currency to an alternate character. In these cases, there will be a slight loss in the transferred amount, similar to how older currencies like Cosmic Flux worked in Shadowlands.

It's important to note that certain currencies, such as Crest and Flightstone equivalents in The War Within, will remain non-transferable as they represent crucial character-based progression.

Lastly, our team is currently conducting a review of all older currencies, enabling Warband transfer on many of them where appropriate. This will ensure a seamless experience for players as they manage their alt armies and their various currencies.

Final Thoughts

The Warband feature in The War Within expansion brings a new level of convenience and efficiency to alt army management. With easy currency transfers between characters, players can optimize their resource allocation and avoid unnecessary item purchases and mailings. We look forward to seeing how this feature enhances the gameplay experience for World of Warcraft players.
