Twisted Tangle - Exclusive Exile's Reach Mace Variant Obtained in Darkheart Thicket during Season 3

October 11, 2023 2 minutes

As Darkheart Thicket enters the Season 3 Mythic+ dungeon rotation, a brand new weapon has been introduced: the Corrupted Knot. This one-handed mace model is dropped by Oakheart in Dragonflight Patch 10.2, providing collectors with another opportunity to obtain a rare item. However, there's a catch - the Corrupted Knot has only one chance to drop per character in Exile's Reach!

The Corrupted Knot stands out with its distinctive purple wrappings and lighter colored bands around the head. It's a model that avid collectors may already be familiar with, as it resembles Tunk's Lil' Whomper - a highly elusive one-handed model found in the game. Tunk's Lil' Whomper, along with several other items, can drop from the Ogryn boss Tunk during the Darkmaul Citadel mini-dungeon.

While the new drop in Darkheart Thicket opens up a new farming opportunity, it's worth noting that players will face a challenge. After finishing the initial leveling process, there is no way to return to the island or instance where Tunk resides. Therefore, if you aim to farm this appearance, you'll need to reroll a new character and complete the entirety of the introductory experience in order to encounter Tunk again. This can be a very tedious and time-consuming process.

However, the unique coloration of Tunk's Lil' Whomper makes it a sought-after asset for collectors. Its exclusivity adds to its desirability among players. Patch 10.2 attempts to address this farming difficulty by introducing the Corrupted Knot as a drop from Oakheart in Darkheart Thicket, a returning Legion dungeon that has been added to the Season 3 Mythic+ rotation. But keep in mind, the Corrupted Knot is merely a purple-wrapped recolor of the original model.

Therefore, for the most dedicated collectors, there is still a reason to venture back to Exile's Reach. Whether you choose to farm for the original Tunk's Lil' Whomper or desire the Corrupted Knot, the pursuit of rare weapon models continues to provide endless excitement and challenge.
