Tyr's Guard Tabard Unearthed in Patch 10.2

September 19, 2023 2 minutes

Hey there, WoW players! We have some thrilling news for you in the upcoming Dragonflight Patch 10.2. Among the many exciting additions, one of the standout cosmetics is the Tabard of the Tyr's Guard. This beautiful white and gold version of the Tabard of the Lightbringer from Wrath of the Lich King is causing quite a buzz among the player community.

In the original game, this tabard was a coveted item that could only be obtained by Warriors, Paladins, and Death Knights through the arduous Shadowmourne questline in Icecrown Citadel. It was just one of several bind-on-use rewards players received from the follow-up quest called the Unsealed Chest. Other rewards included Muradin's Favor, Jaina's Locket, Sylvanas' Music Box, and the Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger. Over time, many of these rewards have become more accessible, either through alt characters or by trading on the auction house. Nonetheless, they still hold a certain air of exclusivity and are highly sought after by players.

While we don't have all the details yet on how the new Tabard of the Tyr's Guard will be obtained, it seems likely that it will be rewarded during the quest to restore the Keeper Tyr. The patch reintroduces Travard, the human paladin and leader of the Tyr's Guard from Legion. Interestingly, Travard himself wears the original Tabard of the Lightbringer instead of the new version. This suggests that the white and gold variant may become the new standard in the future, as the Patch 10.1.7 storyline focuses on restoring the Tyr's Guard.

Returning Hero: Travard, Leader of the Tyr's Guard

It's worth noting that Travard, the leader of the Tyr's Guard, makes a comeback in Patch 10.1.5. This reintroduction of the character paves the way for the continuation of the Tyr's questline in Patch 10.2. Unfortunately, the PTR version of Patch 10.2 does not currently include this questline, as Blizzard is trying to avoid major story spoilers. Therefore, we'll have to wait until launch to find out when and how players will be able to obtain this eye-catching new tabard.

Conclusion

Excitement is building as players anticipate the Dragonflight Patch 10.2, and the Tabard of the Tyr's Guard is one of the many reasons why. As we wait for more details on how to acquire this exclusive cosmetic, let's keep our eyes peeled for updates from Blizzard.
