Updates to Waycrest Manor and Atal'Dazar on PTR v10.2

September 14, 2023 3 minutes

Hey there, fellow adventurers! It's WowCarry here, bringing you some exciting news from the PTR (Public Test Realm) of World of Warcraft. The 10.2 Mythic+ testing phase is now underway, and it brings with it some interesting changes to two popular dungeons - Waycrest Manor and Atal'Dazar. Let's dive in and explore what's new!

Waycrest Manor: Open Doors and Freedom to Choose

One of the major updates in Waycrest Manor is the opening of all doors within the dungeon. Previously, players had to follow a predetermined path through the various sections. Now, you have the freedom to choose your own route! This change adds a whole new level of strategy and decision-making to the dungeon, allowing you to adapt your approach based on your group's composition and strengths.

Atal'Dazar: Snaps - Challenging Yet Still Viable

If you've played Atal'Dazar in Battle for Azeroth, you know all about the infamous snapping mechanic. Snapping was an essential strategy to navigate the dangers of the dungeon quickly. While snapping still works in the 10.2 Mythic+ version, it has become a bit more challenging to pull off. Mobs now have a brief moment of evading before snapping, which slows down the process. However, the mobs remain just as deadly, so mastering the snapping technique is still the way to go.

Let's take a closer look at some of the popular snapping techniques in Atal'Dazar:

  • Edge Snap with Saurids: This technique involves positioning yourself on the edge of a certain spot where the mobs cannot melee you. After a short delay, they will snap to your location.
  • Spawn Snap: The spawn snap technique is now more challenging to execute as the mobs can reach you quicker at the spawn. It requires precise positioning and timing to successfully pull off.
  • Side Snap Outside Fences: Another popular snap is the side snap, which involves positioning yourself outside each fence. Similar to the other snaps, the mobs will snap to you after a short delay.

Vol'kaal Trash: Adjustments Made for a Balanced Challenge

In the original version of Atal'Dazar, the trash mob encounter directly following the Vol'kaal boss fight was notoriously difficult. It was so overtuned that players often opted to skip it altogether. Blizzard attempted to motivate players to face this challenge by adding a True Sight Void Emissary in Season 3 of Battle for Azeroth. However, this only made the encounter more demanding, resulting in players continuing to skip it.

In the 10.2 Mythic+ update, Blizzard has learned from past experiences and made some adjustments to the Vol'kaal trash encounter. They have removed one of the Reanimated Honor Guards, making the encounter more manageable and balanced. Now, players can confidently face this pack without feeling the need to skip it.

Final Thoughts

The 10.2 Mythic+ testing on the PTR brings exciting changes to two prominent dungeons - Waycrest Manor and Atal'Dazar. With the freedom to choose your path in Waycrest Manor and the challenging yet still viable snapping mechanics in Atal'Dazar, these dungeons promise an engaging and strategic experience for players. The adjustments made to the Vol'kaal trash encounter further enhance the balance and enjoyment of the dungeon.

As always, it's important to remember that these changes are currently being tested on the PTR and may undergo further adjustments before being implemented in the live game. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to embark on new adventures in the ever-evolving world of World of Warcraft!
