Paladin Class Adjustments in Patch 1.15.1 Phase 2 PTR Findings - Season of Exploration

January 31, 2024 3 minutes

Hey there, fellow gamers! Today, we have some exciting news for all you Paladins out there. As we dive deep into the world of datamining, we've stumbled upon some interesting Class Tuning changes in Patch 1.15.1 Build 53009 on the PTR. Now, keep in mind that this is still in the testing phase, so there's a chance these changes might be altered before the official release. But, without further ado, let's explore what's in store for Paladins in the upcoming update!

Class Tuning for Paladins

As we dig into the datamined changes, we'll be focusing on three key aspects: Holy Talents, Protection Talents, and Retribution Talents. These changes are meant to enhance the overall gameplay experience for Paladins and provide a fresh twist to their abilities. Let's take a closer look at what's in store!

Holy Talents

  • Seal of Martyrdom

One of the most intriguing changes we found is the addition of the Seal of Martyrdom rune. By engraving this powerful symbol on your chest, you'll be infused with a holy spirit for 30 seconds, granting your melee attacks the ability to deal 40% weapon damage to your target. However, there's a catch - you'll lose health equal to 10% of the damage inflicted. But here's the exciting part: while this seal is active, your party and raid members within 40 yards will gain mana equal to 20% of the damage you take from this seal. Talk about team support!

But that's not all. By unleashing the energy of this seal, you'll be able to judge an enemy, instantly causing 70% weapon damage. However, this will come at the cost of health equal to 10% of the damage inflicted. It's a risky move, but the rewards can be tremendous!

  • Crusader Strike

Next up, we have a game-changer for your gloves. Engraving them with the Crusader Strike rune will grant you a brand-new ability. With a swift strike, you'll be able to deal 75% weapon damage to your target instantly. Not only that, but this strike will also regenerate 5% of your maximum mana, ensuring you have enough resources to unleash your divine powers when needed. It's time to pack an even stronger punch!

Protection Talents

  • Rebuke

Now, for all the Protection Paladins out there, we have an important change to the Rebuke ability. This interrupt spellcasting ability will now prevent any spell in that particular school from being cast for 3 seconds, buying you precious time to turn the tide of battle in your favor. This enhanced duration and cooldown increase from 10 seconds to 15 seconds make the Rebuke ability even more formidable!

Retribution Talents

  • New Abilities

Last but not least, Retribution Paladins will have two new abilities added to their arsenal. With the Crusader Strike ability, you'll be able to strike your target with 75% weapon damage, just like Holy Paladins. This ability also regenerates 5% of your maximum mana, ensuring you have the resources to smite your foes relentlessly.

The other ability, Seal of Martyrdom, allows Retribution Paladins to harness the power of the holy spirit. Similar to the Holy Paladin version, your melee attacks will deal 40% weapon damage to your target, but at the cost of losing 10% of the damage inflicted in health. However, just like before, your party and raid members within 40 yards will gain mana equal to 20% of the damage you take from this seal. A true testament to the devotion of the Retribution Paladin!

Final Thoughts

With these exciting Class Tuning changes in the works, Paladins are in for a treat in the upcoming patch. From bolstering their holy powers to becoming more resilient in battle, these changes are sure to make Paladins an even more formidable force on the battlefield. Keep an eye out for further updates and let us know your thoughts on these changes!
