Season of Discovery: Exciting Rune Changes!

In the most recent build for the Public Test Realm of Season of Discovery, we've revealed some exciting updates to the rune system. These changes bring adjustments to tank runes, specifically Shaman and Warlock tanks. Let's dive into the details and explore these rune changes!

Tank Rune Adjustments

  • Shaman Tank Runes

  • Wild Growth Rune: Engrave your gloves with this rune to heal all party members within a 1540-yard range over 7 seconds. The amount healed starts strong and gradually slows down as the spell duration ends.
  • Skull Bash Rune: Engrave your pants with this rune to charge at a target within 13 yards, interrupting spellcasting and preventing the target from casting spells from that school for 2 seconds. Note that this shares a cooldown with Feral Charge.

  • Warlock Tank Runes

  • Lone Wolf Rune: Engrave your chest or robe with this rune to deal 15% increased damage with all attacks while not having an active pet.
  • Sniper Training Rune: Engrave your pants with this rune to grant your Shot abilities a 10% increased critical strike chance while you haven't moved for the last 6 seconds.

Mage Rune Updates

  • Arcane Mage Rune

  • Temporal Beacon Rune: Your target instantly heals all damage taken over the last 5 seconds. This healing effect is ineffective on targets without a Temporal Beacon 5 seconds ago. The cooldown has been adjusted to 30 seconds from 1 minute.

Paladin Rune Changes

  • Holy Paladin Runes

  • Beacon of Light Rune: The target becomes a Beacon of Light, healing all party or raid members within a 40-yard radius whenever you cast heals on them. Only one target can be the Beacon of Light at a time.
  • Seal of Martyrdom Rune: Fills you with holy spirit, causing melee attacks to deal damage to your target and nearby enemies. However, you lose a percentage of health equal to the damage inflicted. While this seal is active, your party members within 40 yards gain mana equal to a percentage of the damage taken from this seal. Additionally, unleashing this seal's energy judges an enemy, instantly causing damage at the cost of health. Note that the health cost has been reduced.

  • Protection Paladin Runes

  • Beacon of Light Rune: Same effect as the Holy Paladin version, where the target becomes a Beacon of Light healing all party or raid members within a 40-yard radius.
  • Hand of Reckoning Rune: Taunts the target to attack you. While active, the threat bonus from Righteous Fury is increased, and you gain mana equal to a percentage of the amount healed when healed by others. Damage taken while this rune is active is also reduced.
  • Divine Sacrifice Rune: Redirects a percentage of damage taken by party members within 30 yards to the Paladin for a brief duration. If the Paladin's health falls below a certain threshold, the effect is broken, granting increased damage and healing. Divine Sacrifice cannot be used under certain abilities' effects and prevents the Paladin from being targeted by them.

Priest Rune Adjustments

  • Discipline Priest Runes

  • Healing Rune: Heals all party members within a 1540-yard range for a specific range of values, depending on spell parameters. The mana cost has been adjusted accordingly.
  • Strength of Soul Rune: Lesser Heal, Heal, Greater Heal, and Flash Heal now reduce the remaining duration of Weakened Soul on healed targets. Additionally, Power Word: Shield grants Rage when targets take damage, and Righteous Fury is triggered when the shield absorbs damage.
  • Circle of Healing Rune: Similar to the Healing Rune, Circle of Healing heals all party members within a certain range. The amount healed and mana cost have been adjusted.

  • Shadow Priest Rune

  • Shadow Bolt Rune: Shadow Bolt now strikes up to 5 targets within a chain distance of 10 yards, dealing reduced damage to each target.

Rogue Rune Updates

  • Assassination Rogue Rune

  • Vicious Slash Rune: Viciously slash an enemy, causing initial weapon damage and applying a bleeding effect that deals additional damage over time. The bleeding effect can stack up to 3 times, and each successful attack awards a combo point. The energy cost has been decreased.

Shaman Rune Adjustments

  • Elemental Shaman Runes

  • Flame Shock Rune: For the next 10 seconds, a percentage of your damage is converted to healing on nearby party members. Additionally, all of your healing is converted to damage on your most recent Flame Shock target.
  • Healing Rain Rune: Select an area around a target player to heal all party members within that area over time. The healing amount and mana cost have been adjusted.
  • Shield Mastery Rune: Each time you successfully block, you regenerate mana and gain an Armor bonus. These effects can stack up to a certain number of times.
  • Molten Smash Rune: Blast up to a certain number of enemies in front of you, dealing Fire damage in a cone-shaped area. This ability generates high threat, and Flame Shock periodic damage has a chance to reset Molten Smash's cooldown.

  • Restoration Shaman Runes

  • Ancestral Guidance Rune: Similar to the Elemental Shaman Healing Rune, Ancestral Guidance converts a percentage of your damage to healing on nearby party members. It also converts 100% of your healing to damage on your most recent Flame Shock target.
  • Shamanistic Rage Rune: Reduces all damage taken and regenerates mana over time, based on certain parameters. Additionally, nearby party members receive a percentage of the mana you regenerate.
  • Way of Earth Rune: While Rockbiter Weapon is active, you gain various benefits such as increased threat, health, and reduced damage taken. Earth Shock also taunts targets to attack you and has an independent cooldown from other Shock spells.

Warlock Rune Changes

  • Affliction Warlock Rune

  • Lake of Fire Rune: Gain the Lake of Fire ability, which leaves a fire area on the ground when using Rain of Fire. This area increases Fire damage dealt by you and your Demon pet to enemies affected by it.
  • Master Channeler Rune: Changes the functionality of Drain Life, making it no longer channeled, with a duration and cooldown. The mana cost is increased, but the ability heals you for a higher amount each time it deals damage.

  • Demonology Warlock Rune

  • Metamorphosis Rune: Transforms you into a Demon, granting various bonuses such as increased Armor, reduced chance of being critically hit, increased threat generation, and transformed functionality of abilities. Some abilities are replaced or modified, providing a unique playstyle for Demonology Warlocks.
  • Shadow Bolt Volley Rune: Gain the Shadow Bolt Volley ability, which causes your Shadow Bolt to hit up to 5 targets within a certain range, dealing reduced damage.

  • Destruction Warlock Rune

  • Consumed by Rage Rune: Engrave your pants with this rune to enrage yourself, granting a melee damage bonus for a limited time after accumulating a certain amount of Rage.
  • Furious Thunder Rune: Thunder Clap now increases the time between attacks, can be used in any stance, and deals increased threat.
