Rogue Hotfixes: Adjustments to Saber Slash and Deadly Poison Stacking in Season of Discovery

December 05, 2023 3 minutes

Hey there WoW enthusiasts! Today we've got some exciting news for all you Rogue players out there. In the latest update of Classic World of Warcraft Season of Discovery, Blizzard has made a much-needed change to how Rogues' Deadly Brew, Saber Slash, and Envenom runes work when grouped with other Rogues. Let's dive into the details!

Rune Abilities, A Group Affair

Prior to this change, the Deadly Poison triggered by the powerful Deadly Brew rune could only be applied by one Rogue per target. This meant that if you had two Rogues with Deadly Brew, there would only be one stack of Deadly Poison per target, and only one of the two Rogues could utilize the Deadly Poison debuff to deal damage. The lucky Rogue who owned the Deadly Poison debuff would also be the only Rogue capable of using Envenom, which requires the presence of Deadly Poison on the target. Similarly, Saber Slash's damage over time effect could only benefit one Rogue at a time.

A Not-so-Bug Bug Fix

As it turns out, this behavior was not technically a bug. The Classic Era servers were designed to handle debuffs that stack up multiple times in the same debuff slot in this manner. However, the folks at Blizzard recognized the issue with how these runes were implemented and took swift action to rectify the situation, giving all Rogues the opportunity to fully enjoy their new and exciting runes in Season of Discovery.

Now, thanks to this update, all of these rune abilities work exactly as you would expect. If there are two Rogues in a group, each with the Deadly Brew rune, both Rogues can apply Deadly Poison to the target, resulting in two stacks of Deadly Poison. This means that both Rogues can deal damage with Deadly Poison and utilize Envenom. Additionally, multiple instances of Saber Slash and Deadly Poison can now coexist on the same target without any issues.

For those of you who enjoy playing Rogue in groups, this change opens up new opportunities for strategic gameplay and coordination. No longer do you have to worry about conflicting debuffs or missing out on the full potential of your runes.

  • Benefits of the Change

Let's take a closer look at the benefits of this change:

  • Increased damage output: With multiple Rogues being able to utilize Deadly Poison and Envenom, overall damage output goes up significantly. This not only enhances the Rogue's individual performance but also strengthens the group's overall DPS.
  • Improved flexibility: Each Rogue can now choose their preferred runes without worrying about conflicting with other Rogues in the group. This allows for greater customization and specialization within the Rogue class.
  • Enhanced coordination: With the ability to stack multiple instances of Saber Slash and Deadly Poison on the same target, Rogues can coordinate their attacks more effectively, maximizing damage potential during encounters.

  • Conclusion

The recent change to how Rogues' Deadly Brew, Saber Slash, and Envenom runes work when grouped with other Rogues in Classic World of Warcraft Season of Discovery is a game-changer. It not only resolves the issue of limited debuff stacking but also promotes better gameplay experience for Rogue players. So, gather your fellow Rogues and dive into the action with full confidence, knowing that your deadly abilities will hit their mark!
