Unveiling Fresh Runes Found on the Classic Season of Exploration PTR - Warrior Gladiator Stance, Monarchs for Hunters

November 10, 2023 5 minutes

Welcome to the WoW Carry blog post! Today, we have some exciting news for you regarding the upcoming WoW Classic Season of Discovery PTR. Through extensive datamining, we've unearthed several brand new runes that haven't been announced at BlizzCon23. These include Gladiator Stance for Warriors and Aspect of the Lion, which allows Hunters to provide Blessing of Kings! The announcement came in the form of a recent Developer Tweet, where Blizzard confirmed plans to introduce a way for Horde players to access Blessing of Kings. It's important to note that while these discoveries are intriguing, they may not be final and could potentially be adjusted or even scrapped entirely before the official launch. In the datamining process, these runes are currently listed as "Uncategorized Spells," leaving room for uncertainty about whether they will actually make it into the game.

Druid

Let's start with the new runes for Druids. Firstly, we have a healing spell that targets the three most injured party or raid members within a 15-yard radius of the selected area. This spell heals the targets every 5 seconds for a duration of 30 seconds. The amount healed is based on a formula: ((38.949830 + 0.606705 * Level + 0.167780 * Level * Level) * 2 / 100).

Another interesting addition for Druids is that their Rejuvenation spell can now be active on targets affected by another Druid's Rejuvenation, creating a synergy between Druid healers. Additionally, Druids will have an enhancement that significantly boosts the damage dealt by their Hurricane spell. The enhancement removes the cooldown on Hurricane and reduces its mana cost by 20%.

In terms of survivability, Druids will benefit from a new rune that increases their dodge chance by 10%. Whenever a dodge occurs while in Bear Form or Dire Bear Form, they will also regenerate 3 rage. Similarly, while in Cat Form, dodging restores their energy by 10, and in any other form, it restores 1% of their maximum mana. Additionally, Druids now have the ability to instantly heal themselves for 30% of their maximum health, usable in all forms.

Lastly, Druids get a new damaging spell called "Effect #1 Apply Aura: Periodic Damage," which deals 115 to 135 damage every 2 seconds.

Hunter

Next up, we have some exciting developments for Hunters. Hunters will be able to provide Blessing of Kings, a significant ability that was previously limited to Paladins. This change opens up new possibilities for group compositions and synergies. Additionally, a new rune called Aspect of the Lion has been uncovered. This rune is associated with belt engravings and may be introduced in a later level bracket or as a secret unlock in Phase 1. It's unclear whether this rune will affect combat pets, but there are signs that Hunters may soon be able to tame critters.

An interesting aspect of the Aspect of the Lion rune is that it grants the Hunter the aspects of a lion, increasing total stats by 10% for all nearby allies. Furthermore, it enhances the Hunter's total stats by an additional 10%. Keep in mind that only one Aspect can be active at a time.

In addition to these revelations, Hunters will gain the ability to tame adders and deer as companion pets using the Tame Beast ability. This opens up new possibilities for pet diversity and customization.

Paladin

Paladins might also receive a new rune, specifically geared towards Retribution specialization. This rune will reduce the Paladin's healing capabilities while simultaneously increasing their damage output. The concept behind this change is to create a more balanced and focused playstyle for Retribution Paladins.

The new rune will cause all Holy healing dealt by the Paladin to be decreased by 50%. However, all non-Holy damage dealt by the Paladin will be increased by 5%. This alteration will require Retribution Paladins to adjust their gameplay strategy to emphasize damage dealing rather than healing.

Rogue

Rogues are also in for some exciting additions. One of the notable discoveries is a Cheat Death Rune that may soon be available to Rogues. This rune provides a unique survival mechanism for Rogues. If an attack would otherwise be fatal, the Rune reduces the Rogue's health to 10% of its maximum value instead. Additionally, for the next 3 seconds, all damage taken by the Rogue is reduced by up to 90%. This powerful effect can only occur once per minute, making it a valuable tool for survivability.

In addition to this potentially lifesaving Rune, a new item called Privateer's Ornate Pistol has surfaced. While it's unclear if this item is directly connected to the new Runes or simply a test item, it's possible that it demonstrates how some items will naturally have Runes built into them.

Warrior

Lastly, let's focus on the new Warriors runes. Two intriguing additions are the rage-generating War Machine and an enigmatic Gladiator Stance. Although not much information is currently available for Gladiator Stance, it holds great potential as an exciting new playstyle for Warriors.

The War Machine rune is particularly useful for Warriors looking to generate rage efficiently. Killing an enemy worth experience or Honor will trigger the generation of 10 Rage, allowing Warriors to maintain a steady flow of resources for their abilities.

As for Gladiator Stance, its effects and mechanics are still shrouded in mystery. We can only speculate about the possibilities it will offer Warriors, but it's certainly an exciting prospect that will likely bring unique gameplay and strategies to the class.

Conclusion

That wraps up our detailed exploration of the new runes discovered during the WoW Classic Season of Discovery PTR datamining. From new healing abilities for Druids to Blessing of Kings for Hunters, and intriguing developments for Paladins, Rogues, and Warriors, there are exciting changes on the horizon for all classes. However, it's important to remember that these findings are subject to change and may not necessarily make it into the final game. Nevertheless, they offer a glimpse into the potential directions that Blizzard may take to enhance the WoW Classic experience.

As always, we'll keep you updated with the latest WoW Classic news and developments. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
