Wrath Classic 3.4.3 PTR Development Notes 9/21 - Arfus Pet is on the way

September 22, 2023 3 minutes

Blizzard has recently released an update for the Wrath Classic PTR, introducing a delightful new pet named "Arfus" as a reward for completing every dungeon on Defense Protocol Gamma. Alongside this addition, players can now acquire Hardmore 25 Player Ulduar loot from the vendor using 60 Defiler's Scourgestones each. These exciting updates are sure to bring new experiences and rewards to the players in the world of Dragonflight.

Arfus: The Adorable Ghostly Pup

In a previous article, WowCarry datamined the Dragonflight Patch 10.1.5 PTR and discovered high polygon count models for dogs and a ghost icon. This led to speculation about the possibility of a higher resolution model of Arfus making its way to Dragonflight. With the recent update to the 3.4.3 PTR, it seems like our hopes may soon be realized.

Icecrown Citadel and Raid Testing

The most recent update to the PTR included significant improvements and bug fixes for Icecrown Citadel, based on the valuable feedback received during testing. Blizzard plans to conduct one final raid test for Icecrown Citadel next week, starting from Tuesday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m. PDT until Friday, September 29 at 5:00 p.m. PDT. Players can expect further adjustments and bug fixes specific to Icecrown Citadel in the near future.

Titan Rune Dungeons – Defense Protocol Gamma Adjustments

Blizzard has introduced achievements for each defense protocol gamma dungeon, with a meta achievement for completing all of them. As a special thank you, players who earn this meta achievement will receive a unique reward that is exclusive to Wrath of the Lich King Classic - the adorable ghostly pup, Arfus! This pet holds a special place in the hearts of the WoW Classic Development Team, and they are thrilled to share their beloved mascot with all of the players. Keep in mind that the model visuals and sounds for Arfus in the current build are not complete, but Blizzard promises to provide the finalized version in the next PTR build.

In addition, players can now acquire Trinkets, Rings, Necklaces, and Cloaks from 25-Player Ulduar Hard Modes from the Defiler's Scourgestone vendors in Dalaran. Each piece costs 60 Defiler's Scourgestones.

The Oculus Updates

The Oculus has undergone some adjustments to improve scaling and damage output for the drakes in each difficulty level. The rewards have also been changed:

  • Gamma now drops an additional 2 Defiler's Scourgestones in the final chest.
  • Other Heroic, non-Gamma difficulties now drop an extra 3 Emblems of Triumph in the final chest.
  • The Reins of the Blue Drake can now drop in all versions of Oculus via the Random Dungeon Finder.

Fixes and Adjustments

Blizzard has addressed several issues and made adjustments to enhance the player experience:

  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from queuing into Burning Crusade Heroics.
  • Resolved issues with minimaps in certain areas of the Caverns of Time and Old Hillsbrad Foothills.
  • Fixed an issue that caused deep wounds and other DoT effects to not tick on Rogues in stealth.

And more...

Conclusion

The latest update to the Wrath Classic PTR brings exciting additions and improvements to the game, including the introduction of the adorable pet Arfus, new loot from Ulduar Hard Modes, and various bug fixes and adjustments.
