Introducing Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy: A Triumph on the Seat of the Aspects

Written by WowCarry

A triumphant roar echoes from atop the Seat of the Aspects as Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy is formed. We've found some intriguing data about the drop rate for Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy, and it seems that the drop rate has been boosted ahead of Season 4!

Data Gathering

The Legendary Evoker weapon, Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy, was the first of its kind, unlocked during the epic Race to World First. Players had numerous questions on how this legendary weapon dropped, as it initially had no Bad Luck Protection and only had a chance to drop on different difficulties. However, Blizzard had kept the numbers hidden, causing increasing frustration for players who were uncertain if they would ever acquire this Best-in-Slot weapon.

Blizzard's Announcement

In Patch 10.1.5, Blizzard made an announcement that they added Bad Luck Protection to Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy for Heroic and Mythic difficulties. At that time, it was unclear exactly what this Bad Luck Protection entailed. However, recent developments have shed some light on the matter.

New Discoveries

A couple of nights ago, Blizzard revealed that the Bad Luck Protection on another legendary weapon, Fyr'alath the Dreamrender, had been buffed. This has led us to believe that various hotfixes implemented for Curves in Patch 10.1.5 were actually related to Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy. These hotfixes appear to be buffs to the drop rate in preparation for Season 4.

Nas'zuro Legendary Drop Chance

While the data we have obtained is incomplete, we do have two curves that appear to correspond to Heroic and Mythic difficulties, which were the only ones to receive Bad Luck Protection for Aberrus.

It's worth noting that we do not have information on the base drop chance for LFR and Normal difficulties, nor do we know if there is an additional base chance for Heroic and Mythic on top of the Bad Luck Protection curve.

Key Conclusions

  • The drop rate for LFR and Normal is still unknown, but it is expected to be quite low, based on the Fyr'alath Legendary.
  • On the 41st Heroic or higher Sarkareth kill since the launch of Bad Luck Protection in Patch 10.1.5, players are now guaranteed to obtain Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy.
  • On the 7th Mythic Sarkareth kill since the launch of Bad Luck Protection in Patch 10.1.5, players will also now be guaranteed to obtain Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy.
  • For players who have consistently killed Heroic Sarkareth every week since Bad Luck Protection was implemented, they would currently be at a guaranteed drop chance of 47.5% on their 18th kill (up from 28% initially).

Sarkareth Kills

Below are the new plots for what we believe to be the Bad Luck Protection Curves for Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legacy. It's important to note that Heroic difficulty now has a guaranteed drop rate on the 41st Heroic+ Sarkareth kill since Patch 10.1.5. The Heroic curve appears to be linear, unlike the other curves which randomly spike to 100%. Please keep in mind that there may be a missing base percentage from this data, but it should provide a rough understanding of when players can expect to obtain the legendary.

# of Previous Sarkareth Kills Heroic Mythic
0 0% 0%
1 ~1.29% 5.4%
2 ~2.57% 10.8%
3 ~3.86% 16.2%
4 ~5.14% 21.6%
5 ~6.43% 27%
6 ~7.71% 100%
7 21% 820%
8 24% 922.5%
9 27% 1025%
10 20% 100%
... ... ...
30 40% 100%
40+ 100% 50%

Based on Blizzard's advice to defeat Sarkareth on the highest difficulty for Bad Luck Protection, it is likely that defeating Sarkareth on any difficulty will also independently roll for and count as a kill for each of the lower difficulties.
