This includes the Season 4 Preview and the Itemization rework. So grab a seat by the campfire and let's dive in!

PTR Details

The PTR will be exclusively available for Battlenet users on PC. The testing phase is set to start on April 2nd and will run until April 9th. Additionally, the current Season of the Construct will come to an end, making way for Season 4, which is scheduled to begin on May 14th. During the PTR, players will have the option to boost their characters to the maximum level.

Itemization Rework

One of the major changes coming to Diablo 4 is the rework of itemization. While there will be fewer loot drops, the overall quality of the loot will be higher. The aim is to provide players with the ability to craft and customize their ideal gear. As part of this rework, several changes will be implemented:

  • Unused Affixes will be removed from the game, streamlining the itemization process.
  • In World Tier 3, only Sacred items will appear, while in World Tier 4, only Ancestral items will appear.
  • The number of Affixes on gear will be reduced, simplifying the itemization process.
  • Dropped Legendary and Unique items will now be tradeable, allowing players to obtain desired items through trading.

  • Additional Updates

Several other updates will also be introduced in the Diablo 4 PTR:

  • Enemies level 95 or higher will only drop item level 925 gear, ensuring that high-level enemies reward appropriately powerful items.
  • The Gem system has been simplified, and Gems can now be sold for more gold.
  • Gold costs for Item Enchanting will be capped, making it easier for players to upgrade their gear.
  • Many materials have been consolidated, and additional sources for Forgotten Soul will be available.
  • In World Tiers 1 and 2, more Unique items will drop, providing players with increased variety.
  • Uber Uniques, powerful items with unique abilities, can now drop in World Tier 3 from level 55+ enemies.

Codex of Power

The Codex of Power is receiving a significant update in the Diablo 4 PTR. All Legendary Aspects can now be found in the Codex of Power, allowing players to collect and upgrade powerful abilities. Salvaging a Legendary item will upgrade the corresponding Aspect within the Codex. Legendary Aspects can be upgraded up to 16 times to reach their maximum potential. Max-rolled Legendary Aspects will exclusively drop in World Tier 4.

Tempering

Tempering is a new crafting system that will enable players to add new Affixes to their gear. Tempering Manuals, which contain valuable Affixes, will drop from various content in the game. However, they cannot be target-farmed, adding an element of randomness to the process. Each Manual will offer four possible Affixes, with one being randomly applied to a piece of gear. It's important to note that items will have limited Temper Durability, restricting the number of times a Temper can be rerolled.

Greater Affixes

Introducing the most powerful Affix rolls in the game, Greater Affixes offer a 1.5x multiplier to previous maximum rolls. These formidable Affixes can exclusively roll on dropped Legendary or Unique items. While players can Enchant Greater Affixes off of items, they cannot be crafted onto an item, making them truly unique and sought after.

Masterworking

Masterworking is a new item upgrading system that introduces 12 ranks. With each upgrade, a random Affix on the item will be dramatically increased, boosting its power. This system provides players with a rewarding progression path for their gear.

Class Updates

Season 4 brings exciting updates for each class in Diablo 4:

  • Barbarian

The Barbarian class will receive an increase in the number of Dust Devils spawned by the Windlasher Aspect. This will make the Barbarian an even more fearsome force on the battlefield.

  • Druid

Lacerate, the primary attack ability of the Druid, will receive several upgrades, enhancing its effectiveness in combat.

  • Sorcerer

Sorcerers will have access to a new Unique item that allows the Frozen Orb ability to summon a powerful minion. This opens up new strategic possibilities for Sorcerer players.

  • Rogue

The Inner Sight Specialization of the Rogue class will receive a significant upgrade. It will now have a chance to proc off of any enemy and provide a Critical Strike Chance buff of 25%, making the Rogue an even deadlier adversary to face.

With all these exciting changes and updates, the Diablo 4 PTR promises to provide an engaging and dynamic experience for players. So mark your calendars and get ready to embark on a new adventure in the world of Diablo! Stay tuned for more updates and announcements.

Blizzard explains the reason behind the cap on talent loadouts in response to player concerns. While the current limit of 10 loadouts may seem restrictive for players who engage in various content, there are addon solutions available to overcome this limitation. These addons allow players to save and manage more loadouts on their own device.
