Running from April 2nd to April 9th, this testing phase is exclusively available for PC players and can be accessed through the Battle.net Launcher or Xbox PC Game Pass. In this blog post, we'll provide you with all the essential information on Diablo 4 PTR Patch 1.4.0 and how you can take part in it!

The Exciting Changes of Diablo 4 PTR Patch 1.4.0

The first Public Test Realm (PTR) for Diablo 4 is right around the corner, promising a sneak peek into the upcoming changes and features for Season 4. Running from April 2nd to April 9th, this PTR phase is specifically for players with a PC Battle.net account. The primary purpose of the PTR is to allow players to test out updates and features before the official launch of Season 4. Feedback received during this phase will be invaluable in making necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth gameplay experience for everyone.

  • Features Offered for Testing

During the PTR, servers will be active in the largest regions, including North America, Europe, Korea and Japan, South America, and Australia. When you log in through Battle.net, your account's progress will carry over, which includes campaign completion, mounts and skill points, Fog of War, Altar of Lilith stat bonuses, and more. While many changes are relevant to the endgame, there are specific features available for testing:

  • Instantly boost your character to Level 100
  • Upon entering the PTR and reaching Kyovashad, you'll encounter an NPC named 'PTR Boost'. Interacting with them will grant you the option to 'Boost me to level 100'
  • Upon boosting, you'll receive generous rewards, such as 100 million gold, 1,000 Obols, two random sets of Ancestral gear at item power 920, upgraded potions, fully unlocked Paragon Glyphs, and up to 10 Tempering Manuals (class-specific)
  • Basic consumable materials will also be provided, but materials specifically earned for Masterworking, Scattered Prisms, and Resplendent Sparks will not be included
  • Class system mechanics will be complete (e.g., enchantments for Sorceress, etc.)

Note that this character boost can be repeated with new characters on the PTR, and you can trade between characters as needed. Additionally, the Fog of War will be entirely cleared, and legendary drop rates will be doubled, whether you choose to boost your character or not. However, certain elements will intentionally be missing to allow testing of specific flows, and the Codex of Power won't be fully unlocked during the PTR.

Providing Vital Feedback

Your feedback on the changes and features experienced during the PTR is crucial to the development team. It helps ensure that Season 4's updates are optimized for the best possible experience when Diablo IV is officially released. To provide your feedback, there are two primary channels available:

  • In-Game Feedback Tool

While playing the PTR, you can use the in-game feedback tool to submit your thoughts and observations. Simply press the 'Esc' key to access the in-game menu, and click on 'Report a Bug.' From the dropdown filter, select the 'In-game feedback tool' option to share your feedback without exiting the game.

  • Diablo IV PTR Forums

An alternative option is to visit the official Diablo IV PTR forums. You can post your feedback and thoughts on the provided threads, engaging with the community and developers directly.

Installing the PTR

To join the PTR, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net App and locate Diablo IV in your Games list.
  2. In the game version drop-down menu above the Play button, select 'Public Test Realm'.
  3. Click 'Install' to begin downloading and installing the PTR client. Once ready, the 'Install' button will change to 'Play'.
  4. Click 'Play' to log in to the PTR, and choose one of the available Test Servers.

Blizzard explains the reason behind the cap on talent loadouts in response to player concerns. While the current limit of 10 loadouts may seem restrictive for players who engage in various content, there are addon solutions available to overcome this limitation. These addons allow players to save and manage more loadouts on their own device.
