April 02, 2024 5 minutes

Blizzard has recently unlocked the Diablo 4 PTR forums, allowing players to get a sneak peek into the upcoming Season 4. To address any concerns and provide clarity on what to expect, Blizzard's Global Diablo Community Development Director, Adam Fletcher, released a statement addressing the known issues and updates to the game.

What is PTR?

Before we dive into the known issues, let's quickly explain what PTR (Public Test Realm) is all about. PTR is a special testing period where players can try out upcoming content and provide valuable feedback to the developers. It's important to note that PTR is still in the early stages, so expect some rough edges and unfinished elements. However, rest assured that Blizzard will address these issues before the official release.

Known Issues in PTR

Now, let's take a closer look at some of the notable known issues that you may encounter during the PTR testing period:

  • Tempering Issues

  • Some Legendary Tempered Affixes, such as Sever, Death Blow, Leap, and Shadow Imbuement, do not increase in area of effect size correctly.
  • Tempered Affixes with cooldown reduction statistics may decrease instead of improving.
  • Legendary Tempered Affixes with duration may not increase the skill as expected. For example, Rogue Shadow Clone and Steel Grasp.
  • Some Tempered Affixes with +skills do not always work as intended when upgraded.
  • Barbarian Dust Devil Legacy Tempered Affix might cause performance issues.
  • Sorcerer Crackling Energy Legendary Tempered Affix currently has placeholder text.
  • Druid bonus damage to companions affix doesn't function as intended.
  • Druid bonus critical strike chance after using Shred affix doesn't function as intended.
  • Druid Poison Creeper magic recipe does not apply for the passive damage over time bonus.
  • Druid lucky hit with earth skills affix doesn't function as intended.
  • A Tempered or Masterworked item may unbind from the player's account upon exiting and re-entering the game.
  • The Temper Item button disappears after placing an item with the maximum rank of Masterworking in the Masterworking slot.
  • Players can temper an ineligible non-Ancestral item without results if an Affix is selected first.

  • Masterworking Issues

  • Masterwork ranks do not reset after selecting the Reset Masterwork Ranks button.
  • Bonus ranks to skills are not highlighted when the milestone bonus procs on them.
  • A missing string displays when trying to upgrade an item using the Masterworking menu.
  • The chance to upgrade percentage isn't highlighted after a failed roll.
  • Item preview upon completion of Masterworking displays a magic item instead of the actual item.
  • The game may soft lock when the Reset Masterwork Rank button is used with insufficient gold and materials.
  • Razorplate Unique Chest Armor does not masterwork properly.

  • Helltides Issues

  • Helltide map overlay and UI do not properly clear if Helltide ends while in a dungeon or cellar.
  • Blood Maiden summoning altar does not show up on the map until the player gets close.
  • Some monsters in Helltide may spawn partially into the ground.
  • Doomsayer Bounty in Fractured Peaks will sometimes display in the wrong subzone.
  • Harbingers spawned by Ravenous Soulspire and Hellspire events do not progress the bounty.
  • The Accursed Ritual area to summon the Blood Maiden only appears on the minimap if the player is close enough to it.
  • Some performance issues may be encountered on lower specification machines.

  • The Pit Issues

  • Crafting cost does not match the amount of consumed currency.
  • After using the PTR boost, the Pit unlock quest does not inform the player where to get Runeshards.
  • No warning is given when an activated Pit tier resets a Nightmare Dungeon.
  • Players can leave and re-enter via the town portal.
  • Issues may arise when activating The Pit in succession.
  • Runeshards may be consumed without activating The Pit, necessitating repeating the use of Runeshards.
  • Affix descriptions use placeholder text.
  • Players who did not open The Pit can receive Stygian Stones on Higher Tiers.
  • Gear drops are not guaranteed at 925 Item Power.
  • Timer UI bar may display out of sync with the remaining time.
  • Multiplayer drop rates of Masterworking materials are being tuned.
  • Boss shadow clones may display a Boss icon on the minimap.
  • Certain activities do not properly drop Runeshards, such as Bounty Caches, Helltide Chests, World Boss Caches, and Nightmare Dungeon Completion Rewards.
  • Runeshards can be found by killing Elites.

  • Codex of Power Issues

  • Several aspects do not appear in the keyword search filter.
  • Only the highest rank recipes in the Codex of Power are displayed as learned.

  • General / Overall Issues

  • Screen reader support has various issues.
  • Priority/High Monster Count issues - Some skills may not be visible in Low Fx/ High Monster count situations.
  • Players may have difficulty reaching stat thresholds within paragon boards.
  • The Gatehall from Season 3 appears on the minimap.
  • Minions' Inherited Thorns do not display properly on the character stats panel.
  • Some achievements still contain placeholder text.
  • Rogue's Twisting Blades return time can be reduced to below zero with enough tempering and masterworking upgrades.
  • Greater affixes for +Core skills do not roll at maximum level for certain classes (Barbarian, Necromancer, and Rogue).
  • Sapphires socketed into weapons do not provide the correct stat bonus as stated in the gem's tooltip.
  • Life Per Hit stat does not appear in the character stats panel.

Conclusion

This list of known issues is not exhaustive, but it covers many of the major problems that players may encounter during the Diablo 4 PTR. We encourage all players to provide feedback and report any additional issues they encounter, as this will help Blizzard fine-tune the game and deliver a better gaming experience when Season 4 officially launches.

Blizzard explains the reason behind the cap on talent loadouts in response to player concerns. While the current limit of 10 loadouts may seem restrictive for players who engage in various content, there are addon solutions available to overcome this limitation. These addons allow players to save and manage more loadouts on their own device.
