PvP Rewards for Season 3 Released Prematurely - Strife Trophies Hotfix Now Available

November 09, 2023 3 minutes

Welcome to the latest blog post by WowCarry, where we discuss the recent PvP rewards issue addressed by Blizzard. This week, players discovered an unintended loophole that allowed them to obtain certain Season 3 PvP rewards using Season 2 currencies, such as Trophies of Strife. Blizzard has taken quick action to rectify this situation and ensure a fair and balanced gameplay experience for all. Let's delve into the details and find out what changes have been implemented.

Hotfix and Currency Reset

Following Wednesday's maintenance, Blizzard applied a hotfix to address the inadvertent availability of Season 3 rewards through Season 2 currencies. As a result of this hotfix, Trophies of Strife and the reagents used to boost PvP item levels on crafted items can no longer be purchased with Season 2 currencies. Players who already acquired these rewards during this unintended window will have their currency reset to 0 at the start of Season 3.

  • Trophies of Strife Reset

For players who completed the Sparks of Life quest and obtained Trophies of Strife during this timeframe, those trophies will no longer be obtainable for this week. Consequently, any players who acquired Trophies of Strife during this period will start Season 3 with their currency reset to 0. This ensures that no player has an unfair advantage over others by having access to these rewards too early.

  • Crafted Item Changes

Items crafted using Verdant Trophies or Crests have undergone changes as well. Their PvP item levels have been adjusted to match the equivalent honor and conquest levels of Season 2 gear. Any excess items have been converted to Poor quality and cannot be used for further crafting, despite their tooltips suggesting otherwise. Players are advised to vendor them.

Upcoming Changes and Clarifications

  • Verdant Reagents and PvP Gear Upgrades

When Season 3 officially begins on Tuesday, a new batch of Verdant reagents will be made available from vendors, as originally intended. These reagents can be used to upgrade existing gear using Sparks of Dreams. This applies to all players, including those who may have already used Verdant Trophies or Crests this week. It's important to note that PvP gear, across all categories, has transitioned into the new upgrade system. Flightstones and Crests will now be required for gear upgrades instead of Honor or Trophies of Strife.

  • War Mode Gear Upgrades

Trophies of Strife will have a new purpose going forward. They can be used to purchase the upgraded version of War Mode gear directly from Malicia, who is responsible for handling PvP gear. These upgraded items will have a impressive PvP item level of 486. The cost of these items will be in the form of Bloody Tokens and Trophies of Strife. It's important to note that acquiring the base item is not necessary for the upgrade process.

  • Catch-Up Mechanism for Trophies of Strife

Trophies of Strife will now function as a currency with a built-in catch-up mechanism. Starting from Week 2 of Season 3, players who fall behind on their weekly Sparks of Life quest can purchase catch-up Trophies of Strife for 3500 honor each. This allows players to quickly catch up and stay competitive with their PvP rewards.

Blizzard has taken swift action to address the issue of players obtaining Season 3 PvP rewards too early using Season 2 currencies. By implementing this hotfix and resetting the affected currencies, they have ensured that the PvP landscape remains balanced. Furthermore, upcoming changes and clarifications will ensure a smoother PvP experience for all players.
