Residual Damage Effects Glitch in Awakened Raids - Evoker, Rogue, Monk Underperforming

April 25, 2024 2 minutes

Hey there, fellow adventurers! It's WowCarry here with another important update for all you raiders out there. If you've been tackling the challenging Awakened Raids recently, there's a bug that you should be aware of. This bug is causing some serious problems with the residual damage effects, resulting in a significant decrease in their expected damage output. As a result, Evokers and Rogues are not performing as well as they should be. Let's dive into the details!

The Residual Damage Bug

When it comes to Awakened Raids, there's a specific bug affecting spells that deal a percentage of another ability's damage. These spells, known as residual damage spells, are currently dealing only about 25% of their intended damage. This bug is affecting several important items and abilities, such as the Season 4 Devastation Tier Set for Evokers, the Devastation 10.1 Class Set 2pc for Evokers, and even certain abilities for Assassination Rogues like Caustic Spatter and Sanguine Blades. Monk Abilities like Bonedust Brew and various items like Double Time, Nick of Time, Traveler's Timesplitter, and Borrowed Time are also impacted.

Let's take a closer look at the Devastation Tier Set as an example. Normally, this set should be dealing around 16% damage on a single target. However, due to the bug, it is currently only dealing around 4% of its intended damage during encounters. The speculation is that these residual damage effects are not receiving the Awakened damage modifier, resulting in a reduction of approximately 75% in damage output. Coincidentally, this reduction matches the recent buff that Vault of the Incarnates received for the Awakened Raids. It's important to note that this bug is not present in Mythic+ dungeons.

The History of Scaling Bugs

This bug is unfortunately not an isolated incident. Throughout the history of the game, we have seen various spells and abilities bugged and not scaling correctly in raids. This trend persisted in Shadowlands, with several spells being affected in Fated raids. The launch of Season 4 wasn't any different, as it brought its fair share of bugged abilities. However, most of these issues were resolved by the end of Day 1, except for the residual damage effects.

Implications for Tier Loot Decisions

Now, let's discuss the importance of this bug for guilds aiming for Mythic progression. The current bug makes the Devastation Evoker Tier Set the worst Tier Set of Season 4 until it is fixed, even worse than Balance Druids. This information is vital for guilds making Tier Loot decisions, as it could impact their raid performance and strategy. It's crucial to keep an eye on any updates from the developers regarding this bug, as it could affect your gear choices and overall raid composition.

That wraps up our discussion on the troublesome residual damage bug in the Awakened Raids. We hope that this is the last scaling bug we'll encounter in this patch. Until then, stay vigilant and adaptable, fellow adventurers. Happy raiding!
