Shandris Feathermoon's Epic Questline Playthrough (Story Spoilers)

With Patch 10.1.7, the main Dragonflight story continues with the Shandris Feathermoon questline. We played through the questline and bring all the details you might have missed on your playthrough! To start this questline, you must have a level 70 character in Valdrakken. WARNING: Story spoilers in this post!

Introduction

The Shandris Feathermoon questline starts when first zoning into Valdrakken, receiving the quest "A Sentinel's Summon," asking you to meet with Shandris Feathermoon at the base of the steps to enter the Seat of the Aspects. She informs you that she's been monitoring the primalists and what has transpired between Fyrakk and Vyranoth from the green dragon Gerithus, son of Merithra in the Fury Incarnate In-Game Cinematic.

Shandris has learned of another secret meeting between Fyrakk and Vyranoth near Lunedane in the Ohn'ahran Plains. She seeks your aid as she pursues the primalists to discover their schemes. We quickly travel to Lunedane to help with the investigation.

Lunedane

Fyrakk and Vyranoth have already arrived and are meeting at a nearby overlook. Unfortunately fiery Primalist forces have blocked the way and are looking to establish a foothold in Lunedane but to what end? We're charged with thinning the Primalist forces and destroy the wards protecting the bridge to the overlook, but to avoid a full out battle. However, Shandris learns there's more to this attack when she realizes that the Primalist forces are Druids of the Flame.

Shandris: "We will thin out only enough Primalists to safeguard ourselves. This is an intelligence mission, not a battle."

Shandris: "These are druids!"

After disabling the wards, Shandris laments that any Night Elves could possibly join the cause of Fyrakk but urges us to cross the bridge to the overlook and learn more about this plot and Primalist alliance. You'll need to cross a short fiery gauntlet while collecting fire-infusting Smoldering Blossoms.

Shandris: "Grab this flower, then we can sneak our way towards the Incarnates. Remember to avoid the flames."

Shandris: "Protective mist... These patches could shield us from the flames wherever we find them."

Shandris: "These are druids!"

Along the way, we eavesdrop on Fyrakk and Vyranoth.

Fyrakk: "You told me not to harm their beloved children."

Vyranoth: "So, you ally with these-- flame zealots?"

Fyrakk: "We need a path into this Dream. They know the way."

Vyranoth: "They do not share our cause. What have you promised them?"

Fyrakk: "They do not need such incentives."

Fyrakk: "They seek immortality in the living flame and delightful destruction!"

Fyrakk: "Ugh. Why can't you ever just have some fun?"

We remain hidden in nearby bushes as Fyrakk and Vyranoth continue to divulge their plan.

Shandris: "We can hide in the bushes up ahead. Stay far away from the Incarnates."

Vyranoth: "Do you not fear we are losing sight of our goals?"

Fyrakk: "Nonsense! Victory is within our grasp!"

Fyrakk: "With our new allies, we will be more powerful than ever."

Vyranoth: "That is not what I mean, Fyrakk."

Fyrakk: "Stop fretting and follow me. There is something I want you to see."

Fyrakk: "Behold sister!"

Fyrakk: "The burning might of our new allies."

Fyrakk reveals that he doesn't just intend to burn down Amirdrassil, the new World Tree, but to corrupt it with his undying flame and twist it into a vile abomination.

We are instructed to dispatch the newly corrupted Larodar, Keeper of Flame, and then return to Valdrakken to report this information to the Dragon Aspects at once!

Shandris: "Those druids have opened portals here! We cannot return the way we came."

Shandris: "I will hold off anything that comes through. Dispatch the keeper quickly! Then we can escape."

Larodar: "Arise, my children! Unleash your raging flames! Feed these lands with the ashes of those who oppose us!"

Larodar: "The Dream... calls to me... I must answer..."

Shandris: "Take this whistle. One of my hippogryphs can quickly ferry you back to Valdrakken."

Return to Valdrakken

We return to the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken to make our report to Captain Drine, but a blizzard begins to descend upon Valdrakken.

Captain Drine: "So, that is why Fyrakk has been focusing his assault on the Ohn'ahran Plains."

Captain Drine: "I will meet with-- Wait. That sudden chill. Do you feel it?"

Captain Drine: "By the Aspects... She is here."

Captain Drine: "Guards! To the lower ledge! Champion, follow us and prepare to fight."

The Primalist Vyranoth has come to Valdrakken seeking an audience with Alexstrasza.

Vyranoth: "I will find Alexstrasza. You will not stop me."

Captain Drine: "Begone, Incarnate! You are not welcome in our city!"

Vyranoth: "I must speak with Alexstrasza. Out of my way, all of you."

Vyranoth disavows Fyrakk and informs Alexstrasza of his plot. Alexstrasza asks Vyranoth to stand with the Aspects as a protector of Azeroth.

Has Vyranoth truly allied with the Dragon Aspects against her Primalist kin or is this another plot to dethrone the Aspects? We'll have to see how this turns out in Patch 10.2! In the meantime, gear up with the help of WowCarry through raiding with pro-teams!
