Temple Of Jade Serpent Mythic Plus Dungeon Guide

December 07, 2022 11 minutes

In this guide, I will teach you all the essential tips, abilities, and tactics in the Temple of Jade Serpent Mythic+ Dungeon. This dungeon is one of four old dungeons from old expansions which come back and upgrade as Mythic+ Dungeons in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Season One. The Temple of Jade Serpent has seen many exciting changes but still keeps its charm. Let's dive in!

Wise Mari

  • Wise Mari Notable Trash

At the start of the dungeon, you can choose the left path to Wise Mari or the right to Lorewalker Stonestep. You have to defeat both of them in order to proceed further. We'll begin with the Wise Mari encounter, but you can choose any route.

Right before the Wise Mari, you will find trash packs containing Fallen Waterspeaker. These will attack random players with Hydrolance to moderate damage but can be interrupted. Make sure to interrupt Tidal Burst; it deals heavy damage to all party members if not interrupted. Corrupt Living Water spawns a Surging Deluge - a void zone that explodes for severe damage under a random player.

  • Wise Mari Boss Fight

Wise Mari will most likely be the first boss you will encounter in this dungeon. While it's a simple fight with its current tuning, it's pretty much a do-or-die encounter. Hydrolance is his main ability and will be cast frequently at random targets, and it does a ton of damage to whoever is hit. Kick this cast whenever possible. Mari will also apply the Corrupted Vortex debuff to a random target. Once this debuff expires or is removed, it will leave a zone on the ground that deals damage, and it pulls players to the center affecting their movement speed. It's important to leave this for the outside of the encounter space.

Lastly, he will cast Wash Away: a nearly impossible-to-notice frontal. Once this cast begins, it will rotate a little more than 360 degrees, either clockwise or counterclockwise. This cast will most likely kill any player caught, so just run away from this.

Now while this might seem simple, you must be careful of the Corrupted Geyser. The water around the boss will pulse three times before erupting, knocking any players caught up into the air. This boss's ability can be lethal to the whole group.

Lorewalker Stonestep

  • Lorewalker Stonestep Notable Trash

After you defeat Wise Mari, run back to the entrance and proceed to Lorewalker Stonestep. The little Haunting Sha does a laser beam towards the tank. Also, it casts a Haunting Scream  fearing all players for 6 seconds if not interrupted. Other trash we have seen here is pretty similar. The Talking Fish takes random players with Bubble Spray. The Songbird Queen creates a circle around her and deals damage to players in a 5 yards radius with Territorial Display.

The Golden Beetle deals heavy bleed damage to the tank with Serrated Slash.

  • Lorewalker Stonestep Boss Fight

This boss can be pretty intense for tanks, so almost all the damage you will be taking in this fight will be magical through the boss's strife cast. The Trial of the Yaungol spawns two bosses: Strife and Peril.

They will gain stacks of Intensity, resulting in higher damage dealt. At the 10 stacks, they become immune to damage for 15 seconds. Ignoring and not attacking them will grant them a stack of Dissipation, reducing the damage done by 10 per stack.

The idea of this fight is to push one boss all the way to 10 Stacks to make him go immune from damage and to drop their stacks, and then it's a simple swap target strategy. I've seen groups try to optimize this by not going all the way to 10 stacks since stacks actually will fall off without becoming immune. This can really be only useful to dot-based classes that still deal damage. The main issue with this fight is the damage to the tank, though.

The other mechanic is Feeling of Superiority and Feeling of Inferiority, granting players randomly buff or debuff. Feeling of Superiority is a kiss/curse mechanic that will give the player a massive 25-damage buff but also force that player to take ever-ramping magic damage. The way to remove this debuff is by running over another player. So pass the debuff as often as you need to prevent anyone from perishing, and just keep swapping targets until they die.

The Feeling of Inferiority reduces damage and healing done by five percent only. It makes you immune to a feeling of superiority as long as it persists. The last ability of this boss is Hazardous Thoughts - another debuff that applies to a random player dealing damage reducing their movement speed.

Liu Flameheart

  • Liu Flameheart Notable Trash

After defeating the first two bosses, the gates open to Liu Flameheart. You have to clear all enemies in order to activate the boss. These transforms received an overall you will find Sha-Touched Guardians and Depraved Mistweavers on your way. Leg Sweep stunts all players within 6 yards and can only be interrupted by stunts. The Depraved Misweaver uses Defiling Mist - a channel cast that deals damage and can be interrupted. Touch of Ruin is a debuff on a random player which creates a circle around the one player, which explodes after 6 seconds.

Haunting Shas are the same as before; make sure to interrupt the Haunting Scream. Minions of Doubt spawn orbs on the floor with Shattered Resolve, which shoots damage to players and impact. Make sure to walk out of them.

  • Liu Flameheart Boss Fight

This boss is an absolute tank test. Liu Flameheart has three total phases, with Phase 2 being the most deadly. She will cast a nasty tank buster called Serpent Strike during the first phase. Following this, she will cast Serpent Kick, which must be avoided. Proceeding the Serpent Kick will be a spell called Serpent Wave, and avoidable directional mechanic.

When Liu Flameheart reaches 70 percent health, all of her abilities will turn to its Jade versions, giving them an additional property. For the tank, this will result in an extremely nasty debuff that will apply a healing absorb with Jade Serpent Strike. Jade Serpent Kick still damages players within 8 yards around her but now knocks players away as well. The Jade Serpent Waves will now also leave behind void zones that you should not stand in. If you have a luster hero available, I recommend using it here.

Her last phase will happen at around 30 percent health, where she will summon Yu'lon to fight for her. All your group needs to do is avoid the frontal Jade Fire Breath, which is aimed at the tank, and avoid difficult-to-see swirls on the ground from the Jade Fire spell.

Small note: the tank can also avoid Jade Fire Breath once it starts.

Sha of Doubt

  • Sha of Doubt Notable Trash

On the way to Leo Flameheart, there are only three enemies left to defeat in this dungeon. You will simultaneously face a pack of three mobs containing this dungeon's most challenging trash mobs. Depraved Mistweaver still flicks players with Touch of Ruin, Sha-Touched Guardian will stun close players with Leg Sweep, and Fallen Waterspeaker will wipe your group if her Tidal Burst is not interrupted.

  • Sha of Doubt Boss Fight

The Sha of Doubt only has a few mechanics. During the fight, there will be some spot healing that the healer will need to cover. Wither Will deals damage to 2 random players, which is unavoidable, so it has to be out here by the healer. Accompanying this, the Sha of Doubt will apply an extremely lethal debuff called Touch of Nothingness. This ability creates a circle around the player, which deals periodic damage to them and players within 5 yards of them. The healer should dispel this one immediately, and the other player who has the debuff still needs the healer's full attention or to use a defensive cooldown.

Shortly into the fight, the Sha of Doubt will cast Bounds of Reality and become invulnerable. Under this buff, the boss will cause adds to spawn fixating players. Stack up as a group underneath the boss and use all crowd control effects to minimize the damage they deal. DPS players should do their best to kill them as fast as possible. Any adds still alive after the Shah's 30-second cast will result in a massive heal to the boss with Gathering Doubt. Rinse and repeat until the temple is cleansed of doubt.

Final Thoughts

Temple of the Jade Serpent should be fascinating; experience an entirely different version of the Mists of Pandaria dungeon. That covers my quick rundown of Temple of the Jade Serpent for Dragonflight in Mythic+ mode. I hope it was helpful. You can also check out the short video guide below.
