Switching Mains for the New Arena Season

If you are stuck in a rut and feel held back by your class in the Arena, the start of a new Arena season can be a perfect opportunity to switch mains. In this blog post, we're breaking down the top two specs to main for every role in patch 10.1 Dragonflight Arena Season 2.

Melee

  • Enhancement Shaman

Thanks to significant buffs in 10.1, Enhancement Shaman is expected to shine in Season 2. Despite their underperformance in Season 1, they have now received significant damage increases to key abilities, new talents like burrow that offers immunity, and buffs to 'seasoned winds'. Their unique combination of abilities like Doom Winds and Ascendance, their potential for consistent pressure, and recent mana cost reduction makes them an exciting melee pick for Season 2.

  • Havoc Demon Hunter

While not seeing too many changes in 10.1, Havoc Demon Hunters are still solid for melee. They've received a boost to I-beam and fell lance, a buff to the PVP Talent Blood Moon, and their crowd control weaknesses have been mitigated thanks to shorter stun durations. They offer high sustained damage and good composition options with other dominating specs like Balance Druid and Destruction Warlocks.

Casters

  • Destruction Warlock

Currently looking to be the most dominant spec, Destruction Warlocks offer high instant damage, high casted damage, solid crowd control, and strong defensive options. Buffs in 10.1 have been kind, with great new additions like Impish Instincts and Soul Rip, as well as significant damage increases. Despite minor nerfs to incinerate and Shadow burn, they're still a strong caster to consider.

  • Balance Druid

As close as it gets to standing up against the strength of Destruction Warlocks, Balance Druids have benefitted significantly from the 10.1 buffs to damage and astral power generation. With the most powerful crowd control in the game, Cyclone, and the ability to output high damage both instantly and when casting, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Healers

  • Mistweaver Monk

Although Fist Weavers have fallen in favor, Mistweaver Monks are emerging as dominant healers. With new additions like Chrysalis and Zen Spheres, plus previous buffs to Vivify and Renewing Mist, Mistweavers can deal with any level of incoming damage, making them a strong healer pick.

  • Discipline Priest

Discipline Priests have always been potent with their ability to contribute to damage, crowd control, and utility. Buffs to Power Word Shield and new additions in 10.1 like Phase Shift and Shadow of Death have boosted their healing prowess. They offer a plethora of defensive cooldowns, making them a formidable healer for any team.
