Massive Dragonflight Season 4 Mythic+ Dungeon Adjustments - Checkpoint Introduced in Halls of Infusion

March 26, 2024 8 minutes

Blizzard has implemented extensive changes to the Mythic+ dungeons in Dragonflight Season 4. These changes, which are currently being tested on the Public Test Realm (PTR), bring back all eight Dragonflight dungeons to the Mythic+ rotation. Some of the most notable changes include the removal of the timer for Mythic Keystone dungeons, making it possible for players to complete these dungeons at their own pace. Additionally, the Heroic difficulty and rewards will be increased to match the current level of Mythic 0, while the Mythic 0 difficulty and rewards will be increased to match the current level of Mythic 8-10. This blog post will provide a detailed overview of the Season 4 Mythic+ dungeon tuning and updates, highlighting the changes in each dungeon and the new difficulty levels and rewards.

Season 4 Mythic+ Dungeons

The Dragonflight: Season 4 update brings back all eight Dragonflight dungeons to the Mythic+ rotation. These dungeons include:

  • Ruby Life Pools
  • Brackenhide Hollow
  • The Nokhud Offensive
  • Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr
  • Neltharus
  • The Azure Vault
  • Halls of Infusion
  • Algeth’ar Academy

Difficulty Changes

One of the most significant changes in the Season 4 Mythic+ dungeons is the removal of the timer for Mythic Keystone dungeons with a level of 0 and 10. This means that players can now take their time and complete these dungeons without the pressure of a timer while still honing their skills. The Heroic difficulty and rewards will be increased to match the current level of Mythic 0, and players can queue into these dungeons via the Group Finder. The item level requirement to queue will be adjusted accordingly.

The Mythic 0 difficulty and rewards will also be increased to match the current level of Mythic 8-10. However, this increase is offset by the absence of a timer or affixes, making it a bit hand-wavy in terms of numerical difficulty. The existing Mythic+ system will pick up from where Mythic 0 leaves off, ensuring that a Mythic 5 in Season 4 is equivalent in difficulty, rewards, and M+ Rating awarded to a Mythic 15 in the current system.

  • Normal Difficulty

This difficulty level remains unchanged.

  • Heroic Difficulty

The tuning and rewards for Heroic difficulty will be increased to match a baseline Mythic (Mythic 0) dungeon in the current system. However, the Mythic difficulty changes and mechanics will not be present in this difficulty level. Heroic difficulty remains a queueable experience.

  • Mythic Difficulty

The tuning and rewards for Mythic difficulty will be increased to match a +10 dungeon with affixes in the current system. Notably, there will be no timers, affixes, or limitations on changing specializations or talents while inside the dungeon. The goal is to create a mega-dungeon-like difficulty that offers a meaningful challenge and rewards without the pressures of the current Mythic+ system. Mythic 0 will remain on a weekly lockout under this model.

  • Mythic+ Difficulty

The Mythic+ system will have rewards up to level 10, with the difficulty starting at +2, equivalent to what would be a +11 in the current Mythic+ system. The scaling will follow from there, where a +5 in Season 4 is as difficult as a +15, and a +10 is as difficult as a +20 in the current system. Affixes will be introduced at +2, +5, and +10, including affixes such as Fortified/Tyrannical, Entangling/Incorporeal, and Bursting/Bolstering.

Table 1: Affixes and Their Corresponding Keystone Levels

Affix Keystone Level
Fortified/Tyrannical +2
Entangling/Incorporeal +5
Bursting/Bolstering +10

This new Mythic+ system aims to provide a smaller range of keystone levels to find groups for and more meaningful progression between each level. The basic structure of dungeon rewards remains largely unchanged, with the rewards for completing a Mythic 0 dungeon now available in Heroic difficulty instead.

Here is a basic rundown of the rewards players can expect in Season 4:

  • Crest and Flightstone rewards will be adjusted to match the new difficulty levels, with only minor adjustments.
  • Flightstone earnings for a Mythic+ dungeon will match the equally challenging Mythic+ dungeon from previous seasons. For example, a Mythic+2 in Season 4 will reward the same number of Flightstones as a Mythic+12 in Season 3.
  • Bonus Flightstone awards for increasing any party member's Mythic+ score remain unchanged.
  • Whelpling Crests will no longer be available from Mythic+ dungeons, as those difficulty levels will no longer exist. Players can continue to collect Whelpling Crests from outdoor sources.
  • Players will earn 10 Drake Crests for successfully completing a Mythic 0 dungeon, as there is no timer to beat.
  • Wyrm Crests will be available in Mythic+2 to Mythic+5 dungeons, in the same quantities as existing Mythic+ dungeons.
  • Aspect Crests will be available in any Mythic difficulty from +6 and up, also in the same quantities as existing Mythic+ dungeons.
