Upcoming Patch 10.1.5 Features: Transmog Tracking and Quantum Items

June 22, 2023 3 minutes

Introduction

Welcome to the world of transmog in World of Warcraft's Patch 10.1.5 - Fractures in Time. Today, we'll take a deep dive into the substantial changes and updates introduced in this patch. From comprehensive transmog tracking, Quantum Items, and the anticipated return of Naxxramas, we have a lot to cover.

Transmog Tracking

The first significant update is the introduction of Transmog Tracking. Once the patch 10.1.5 launches, head over to the Appearance Tab, which looks much the same as always. However, a new functionality has been added: when you hold down the shift key, some items become highlighted, indicating they're tracked for transmog.

  • How Does It Work?

This new feature works with various gear, from helms to weapons. Highlighted items, when clicked, get added to your objective tracker on the right-hand side. For instance, if you click on the Light Auto-Stabilizing Energy Rifle that drops from the HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit in Operation: Mechagon, it opens up in the Adventure Guide, showing other drops, the model, and location.

Furthermore, clicking on an item adds a point to your map, showing you precisely where the dungeon, boss, or vendor you need to visit is located. This feature, while beneficial to veterans, could also significantly aid new players, offering an easy way to track their collections.

  • Expansion and Improvement

While the transmog tracking feature is incredibly handy, it would be even more beneficial if expanded to other collectibles, such as mounts or toys. Currently, this tracking is limited to transmog items, but expanding it to cover all items in the game would be a game-changer.

Quantum Items

The next exciting addition in this patch is Quantum Items. Essentially, a Quantum Item is a form of gear that, when used, adds an appearance you don't have to your collection. This could be anything from grey and green items to epic and raid finder gear, all from Legacy Dungeons and content.

  • How Do Quantum Items Work?

Chrono Lord Deos, the final boss of the Dawn of the Infinite Mega-dungeon, drops Quantum Items for everyone in the dungeon. Using these items adds a random appearance to your collection. There is also a bonus Quantum Item, the Reins of the Quantum Corsair, which transforms into a random mount from the past.

Naxxramas Returns

The final significant update we'll be discussing is the return of Naxxramas items. Much like the Zul'Gurub items that recently made a comeback, it seems that the removed transmogs from Naxxramas will be reappearing, adding more diversity to the transmog game.

  • What's New in Naxxramas?

Although details are currently encrypted on the PTR, it looks like you'll be able to obtain recipes for removed transmogs from Naxxramas, including the coveted Icebane set. It doesn't appear that this includes Tier 3 or items like the Corrupted Ashbringer, but we'll learn more once the patch is fully released.

In addition to the Naxxramas updates, it seems that the original Scholomance from Vanilla WoW may also be making a comeback, along with its associated transmog items. However, this is based on speculation and encrypted data, so only time will tell.

Final Thoughts

As it stands, collectors are certainly in for a treat with patch 10.1.5, with the introduction of transmog tracking, Quantum Items, and the return of Naxxramas items. It's an exciting time to delve into the world of Azeroth and discover what treasures await in the Dragonflight expansion.
